Renegade Kid's Jools Watsham recently posted this Moon boxart on his IGN blog, along with the planned back of the box. So, armchair analysts ... what do you think?

If you would watch the trailers you'll see that Moon has atmospheric qualities reminiscent of Metroid. Uncreative premise aside, it's not a frantic, testosterone-pumped run-and-gun in the vein of most modern shooters. It's a lot more reserved and seems to have a balance between shooting and exploration.

Even if none of this were the case, it would still be worth playing on the merits of its technical achievements on the DS. This is the result of Renegade Kid learning what worked and what didn't in Dementium, and will probably be the first FPS on the system to fully take advantage of a stylus-based control scheme.

I can't quite put my finger on what I don't like about the boxart. To be honest, odds are that it's perfectly fine, but I already had an image in my mind of what I hoped it would look like and this isn't it. Actually, part of it is--the moon part. It must be the giant space guy head blocking the moon that's getting to me. Ah, well--if it means they sell more copies by catching little kiddies' eyes with a more shooter-esque boxart, I don't mind. It's still a day one purchase for me.

I think it's brilliant. You can barely see the astronaut's face, but he's obviously very intent on something. The moon is behind him, the earth with the rising sun is reflected in his visor. The only thing I might consider changing is the gun, but I suppose the kiddos need to be reminded this is a shooter, afterall.
