Rumor: New Guitar Hero peripheral coming?

Our cruel overlords at Joystiq have contacted Activision for clarification on the whole issue. Popular opinion seems to be that it's a keyboard of some type, but we'd like to think the game will feature something a bit more old school, like the guy in the image above. We're just weird like that.

Sweet, Ive been playing piano for 13 years, been waiting for something like this. If its a keyboard, I'll def. buy the Guitar Hero Set. What do they mean by studio mode? That's not the mode where you create your own music is it? B/c I want to play it with some songs or something.

About 6 months ago, my friends and I had an idea to make a Guitar Hero style game with a keyboard. We drew out the general plan and everything, but our lack of legal and electronic prowess halted everything else.

If it is a keyboard (which would be my top guess) will it be playable with some of the songs that are heavy on keyboard? (light my fire, in the end)
