The Conduit to be showcased in Nintendo's PAX booth
A justifiably enthused High Voltage Software sent out a press release today announcing that not only would their FPS The Conduit be presented in the expo floor at this year's Penny Arcade Expo, but that it will be shown in Nintendo's own booth. "We are incredibly honored to be featured there at Nintendo's booth," said Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger. "It's a fantastic opportunity for us to receive input and feedback directly from other gamers."
Could Nintendo be publishing The Conduit? Or are they just using The Conduit as an attraction, to get the super-hardcore PAX crowd over to Nintendo's booth so they can play Wii Music? We also wonder why, if The Conduit does have a publisher, High Voltage hasn't said who it is? The identity of the company releasing your game isn't the usual teaser material.

_Finally_!!! Glad to see Nintendo is putting its weight behind a 3rd-party title.
Hopefully this signals a trend...

They did before, a la Fatal Frame IV
Maybe this will turn out similarly, where they won't publish it, but will help to front distribution and advertising costs

Actually, Nintendo is the publisher. Grasshopper is co-developer alongside Tecmo.

not only would that be amazing, but it would be the only way to get them out of the dog house with many fans. to be honest its a genius move if nintendo are publishing, but i really want a company that would, you know, actually advertise the frickin game its publishing ffs, and ninty may not be that company

this game looks awesome and i cant wait to play it but do you guys really think nintendo would back this hardcore game. i dont think so, still it does seem odd that this game doesn't have a publisher seeing as every hardcore wii gamer is exited about it.
Arex @ Aug 19th 2008 9:05PM
Why wouldn't they? They published Golden Eye, Perfect Dark and Metroid.

@rouroniJohn-

rouroniJohn @ Aug 20th 2008 1:34AM
listen man i love my Wii, i really do. but that's not enough, 3 games is not enough. and also aren't those 1st party E rated games? this is a 3rd M rated, there is a big difference.
rouroniJohn @ Aug 20th 2008 1:35AM
im sorry i meant T rated

Arex:
All three of those titles were developed by Nintendo 2nd parties (at the time, Rare was, anyways).
Nintendo has, however, published Mature-rated Eternal Darkness (by Silicon Knights) and Geist (by n-Space).
Mr Khan @ Aug 19th 2008 7:14PM
Huh. Nintendo DOES know their audience
It's much more effective as damage control, at least
yomachaser @ Aug 19th 2008 7:14PM
Of all the companies to throw money behind this Nintendo was the last one I expected ,but probably the best in the long run.
If this game does well high voltage may end up becoming a second party studio someday.

I've suspected Nintendo to be the publisher, or at lest the very likely publisher, since High Voltage said that they had access to the voice chat technology early on. Usually Nintendo just gives that stuff out to the bigger publishers and developers...so when HVS gets it, it seems to me like something is going on.
yomachaser @ Aug 19th 2008 10:52PM
Very good point, I didn't even think about that.

Nintendo needs to publish a game of a more mature standpoint. Don't get me wrong I love me some Nintendo branded games but the only true IMHO hardcore game that Nintendo has thrown their logo on since launch has been MP3 (LOZTP being the other). Mario Kart Wii is great but it is still directed to a casual gamer and SSBB is great but it still doesn't have that lasting effect that I long for. I guess you can say that I am a picky gamer but I want games that I can pick up anytime I want and I get right into the action and I am hooked as I was on day one.
ZombiePikmin @ Aug 20th 2008 2:18AM
Hmmm if im not mistaken High Voltage said The Conduit was going to be a franchise, with Nintendo this is more than likely
skyrous @ Aug 20th 2008 7:31AM
this is definitely damage control. If they'd feature a few games like this at E3 they would have avoided the 2 solid weeks of criticism they got from everybody after E3.
