In the year 20XX, Capcom might release more Mega Man
While this is a skip and a hop from being glorious confirmation of more Mega Man, this Comic-Con interview seems to suggest that Capcom is already thinking of follow-ups to Mega Man 9.
We can't identify the Capcom developer in the video above, but whoever he is, we like what he's saying -- especially around two-thirds of the way through the video, when our mysterious new hero announces: "Fans will want more Mega Man titles, so I think we'll continue with it, especially after the huge response we're seeing now to Mega Man 9."
If you were part of the internet's collective omgasm over Capcom's game (we like to think that we were), pat yourself on the back.

I think part of the excitement of Mega Man 9 comes from the lack of a really true new Mega Man game (that felt old school) for the last few years. Yeah there's been Mega Man games recently like the ZX series and even Mega Man X series. But it just hasn't played or felt the same since almost Mega Man 3.
It's just my opinion people have wanted a true Mega Man game for sometime, just haven't gotten it. Same could be true for Castlevania as well... besides the Dracula X remake on PSP, when was the last non-Metroid-like Castlevania game? I think if Konami announced another Castlevania game that was like Super Castlevania, it'd be a big success.

I hope any future sequels continue the "retro" thing Capcom has going with MM9, but with high-quality (but still 2D!) visuals. That would be epic.

Follow Wario Land: Shake It's example
That's what i say

Mega Man is fantastic and all, but I felt like Capcom, with the X series, brought Mega Man to it's fully potential.
I would be extremely excited if they decided to do an SNES Mega Man X style current-retro game.

Mega Man 9's gonna do great, but I'm not sure people will be interested in a bunch of 8-bit sequels... It's going to get boring quickly. Capcom shouldn't be surprised if interest wanes after an 8-bit Mega Man 10.
It was the number the spinoffs that was hurting the series (a la Sonic), not the advancements in technology. Perhaps Mega Man 9 will help bring the series back to its roots. Personally, I would rather see something in the style of the DS Castlevanias and Contra than an outright 8-bit emulation. Go back to the original concept, give it beautiful updated, 2-D graphics, and the best gameplay the system has to offer.

Which also means
Castlevania in 2D if MM9 goes well, which will open the door.
Perhaps other games will follow this.
Some games, that sucked in 3D will come back to their roots as well. (Sonic perhaps?)

I definitely hope to see more retro games like this, especially a Castlevania game, a Super Mario World sequel, and a Mega Man X title.
Here's another idea - I think it would be interesting to see some newer titles go retro for the first time. Something like God of War, done in the style of River City Ransom or whatever.

I'd hope that they don't limit themselves to 8-bit presentation in future MM titles. I still think that a progressive higher-bit-ing as you go along in the game would be a very neat touch (you hear me, Capcom?!), though even just an option for what "gen" yo want your gaming experience to emulate would be so cooley (I miss that song...).
Now, here's the conundrum: How many people will get confused by MM10 =/= MMX ?
