Capcom 'contemplating' doing more Wii ports
Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom, is a man of the people. When someone sends out a distress call, he quickly hops down from atop his mountain of unsold copies of Zack & Wiki and Okami to help out. He may not be wearing a cape and mask, but we think he's a super hero.
Why all the Sven love? Because the dude gave us hope for some more Capcom support on the Wii. When Capcom fan John voiced his concern over a lack of Bionic Commando on the Wii, Christian stepped in to let John know that Capcom won't be forgetting about the console after Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop. "We are contemplating versions of one or two of the CEI titles you've mentioned on the Wii (not saying which), but we'd like to see how they do on their initial target systems before doubling down on additional SKUs." What titles could he be referring to?
Siliconera speculates that it could be Flock, Age of Booty, Dark Void, and Street Fighter IV up for consideration, as these are Capcom Entertainment Incorporated ("CEI") projects. Flock seems like the natural choice, but we'd be lying if we said that the prospect of Dark Void or Street Fighter IV on the Wii was unappealing. That Dark Void game certainly looked cool at E3. We'd have liked to play it, but we were too busy playing games for you all.

All I want from Capcom is Resident Evil 5.
On a separate note, I just got Zack and Wiki. It is really good. I would recommend it to everyone who likes puzzle solving.

gonintendo's list of games included re5.

The obvious place to look is their classic games. People are eating up MM9-- they could do some serious revisiting, not only of 8-bit, but of other 2D titles to fit on Wiiware. Castlevania (SoN, not 8-bit), Mega Man X; heck, anyone else want to imagine Phoenix Wright on WiiWare, with Voice Acting? Anyone?
I was never much of a fan, but I'm sure lots of people would be happy to see Power Stone on Wii. I do know that if I ever buy a PS3, I will not be buying RE5 for it. RE4's Wii Controls were superb. I will NOT be regressing from that. If we're counting "significant gameplay changes", ala Dead Rising CTYD, earlier Resident Evil games, remade with better controls (and no fixed camera, along with other RE flaws) would be great. RE4, with a focus on horror over action? Yes, please!
In the "Absolutely never going to happen" category, Steel Ballawiion. Oh yeah. I went there.

Oh, and P.N.03. Another game I never tried personally, but from what I've seen, the biggest flaw with it was controls. If they're improved (and capcom ports seem to be great at that), along with other updates (such as graphics, again as seen in other capcom ports), it could be a great way to give the title a second chance.

street fighter 4 for wii. for what i see it doesnt have that much graphic. and the wii can handle cell shading and animated graphics.
Mr Khan @ Aug 13th 2008 9:30PM
Exactly what i've been pondering, since none of the character models they've shown so far look more detailed than the models in Brawl, which hosted four better looking models simultaneously, compared to SFIV's two

As much as I'd love to play RE5 or SFIV, I'd really rather have something new at this point.
Okami II would be nice.
Feba @ Aug 13th 2008 9:59PM
How would that be new? Also, Clover left. It would be dry and stale. There'd be no point without them.
samfish @ Aug 13th 2008 11:09PM
That's what everybody says, but Kamiya also made Devil May Cry and quite a few people consider Devil May Cry 3 t be the defining moment in the series, which was made WITHOUT Kamiya.
...so...I have faith that they could make a good sequel.
Also, it would be 'new' as it it's not another freakin' port.

I'll take SF4, nothing more. I'm done with the ports, build it with Wii the same time as the other consoles or make an exclusive title, like you did with RE4. I can't take anymore ported stuff, this si ridiculous I thought Wii was to be pushing us forward and now we're rehashing old stuff because what? PFF
CJLopez @ Aug 13th 2008 11:01PM
Why ports??? GIVE US NEW GAMES!!!!
CAPCOM, we love your games, but why gives us ports???? Unless they are ports of new games (RE5)
Or are they talking about spyborg???
techfreak713 @ Aug 14th 2008 12:11AM
DEVIL MAY CRY! i played a demo of DMC 4 and used GlovePie and my wiimote + nunchuk and loved it...it was soo much more immersive than with the keyboard. for example, with the grapple, it could be mapped to the nunchuk forward motion, sword left = left motion of the wiimote, up/down on the wiimote for vertical sword, and then the B trigger for gun fire, nunchuk upward motion for the upward air attack thing, and then the Z button for the lock on mechanism. at least that's what i used, and it worked great.

I'd welcome more new games, designed only for Wii. Ports killed a good portion of the potential the previous generation had, we got 3 consoles with a very identical lineup. Capcom certainly makes games that are worth porting, but I'd still preffer "Mega Man Legends 3" or "good new game X" to a RE5 or SF4 port.
We also need to give new games chance and not only base our fun on how much weight a brand name has.
I liked the (japanese) ports of the 16bit days and early 32bit days, which offered superb exclusive content:
All new game include in Slap Fight, almost completely different Tiny Toons games for SNES and MD, all new Survival Mode in Pocket Fighter (PS1, Saturn), Wily Tower in Mega Man Megaworld , Street Fighter 2 Turbo AND Champion Edition in ONE game (Mega Drive version)...
Ports need these kinds of exlcusives. Capcom did it back in the 16bit and 32bit days. Then somwhat slowed down previous generation (slapped on RE4 missions, character models in Viewtiful Joe PS2, palette swaps and poorly animated characters in Final Fight One) . Now barebone Wii ports (Wii RE4, which is just RE4 + all extras, no bonus for RE0)
I hope the changes to Dead Rising a sign of things to come.

If they want to do ports? Fine, as long its God Hand or any Darkstalkers game. Yes, Darkstalkers, not this SF crap.
