Rumor: New Pokemon creatures revealed
Supposedly, the image on your right are silhouettes of new pocket monsters set to premiere in Nintendo's upcoming cash generator Pokemon Platinum. For those of you with very good sight, that would be them to the right of this text right here. Japanese site blue skY is reporting that this image is an advertisement from a Toys R Us in Japan. We'd like to comment further, but up until today, we didn't know there were Toys R Us chains in Japan. For those of you who're Pokemaniacs, care to comment on these?
Do they resemble the shapes of other Pokemon?

I would rather see a new plot (not Team [insert name here] is trying to capture a legendary pokemon, beat them to it, and then beat the pokemon league!) then a bunch of new mutants to enslave.
StarkMevens @ Aug 8th 2008 6:17PM
There won't be any new Pokemon in Platinum - it's just a third, improved version of Diamond and Pearl like Emerald or Crystal. Besides, someone would have found them in the D+P ROMs already.
Mr Khan @ Aug 7th 2008 5:50PM
New creatures would wreck the version's cross-compatibility with Battle Revolution and the other two versions
It would limit it in the way that trade between Gold/Silver/Crystal and Red/Blue/Yellow was. No trading or battling or Battle Revolutioning if you had one of these in your party.
Zealot @ Aug 7th 2008 6:59PM
As far as I know there's a slight precedent for this, considering that Bonsly was in Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness and was either uncapturable or had to remain in-game due to the game being released before D/P. I'm not entirely sure, as I never owned the game.
I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to do this sort of thing as a ploy to get D/P owners to shell out again if the new legendary forms aren't enough. Long-time fans who've played Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald know how much (or, rather, how little) to expect out of the third installments so this part of the Pokemon demographic may need a bit of a stronger nudge than usual this generation.
chibi_wings @ Aug 7th 2008 5:56PM
If this little snippet is authentic, they are probably just different versions of D/P pokemon like Origin form Giratina and Sky form Shaymin. I can't see them adding new pokemon to the third installment. But then again maybe they felt adventurous at Game Freak and did add a few extra ones. Only time will tell.
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 7th 2008 5:57PM
Like Shaymin and Giratina they could just be new alternate forms from previous versions.
elsng @ Aug 7th 2008 6:27PM
They look strangely like Rotom-like forms of Pokemon, resembling antennae of something. Though the ones on the bottom look like mustard bottles.
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 7th 2008 6:33PM
That was also one of my thoughts. Rotom controlling through a TV
Sam @ Aug 8th 2008 9:27PM
Yes, I agree with that. I was thinking that it was some sort of steel or electric type, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. As soon as you said that, I knew that that was it.
Tombstone @ Aug 7th 2008 6:58PM
The green one looks like a security camera.
Micah @ Aug 7th 2008 10:11PM
OMG, it does. How funny. =D
kvp @ Aug 7th 2008 10:17PM
Heres my theory. I don't think that they are new pokemon. But, instead, new, Robotic, or some type of mechanism, Frontier Bosses/Brains. i think this because there are 5, each a different color, and adding 5 new POKEMON would, as others have said, disrupt all the other games. :D
chibi_wings @ Aug 9th 2008 3:34PM
actually your theory that they are frontier brains/bosses, or whatever, could work. Serebii.net commented that Platinum will have 5 battle areas, (whereas Emerald had 7) and there are five of these silhouettes.
aj @ Aug 8th 2008 1:33AM
Yeah, I call new Rotom forms. Maybe each colour corresponds to one of the elemental plates that you attach to Rotom to get the new form.
Souti @ Aug 8th 2008 11:48PM
I dunno. I agree with the Rotom Theory. To me, from top to bottom it looks like: Rotom as a stove with legs, a satellite or the wi-fi building's globe with antennae, a camera, a refrigerator and as a mini-tv. That would be interesting if these all happened to be Rotom and I was right O_O "I attack you with my 'Cold Cabbage and Ice Cream From the Fridge' attack!"
Jay @ Aug 8th 2008 10:59AM
1 Word. Rotom.
Peter N. @ Aug 8th 2008 1:16PM
I agree with everybody. It looks like Rotom. When I first looked at the figures, I was like "...are they new forms of Rotom?"
dagguis @ Aug 8th 2008 7:36PM
I have a few theories, first one, they may be alt forms of the already known pokemons look closer to that orange shape it seems like registeel´s alt form, the purp one seems like a bloom boxed pikachu! :)
second theory, there´s going to be a battle forntier, those are the frontier medals or idk howre they called (ive never owned emerald)
my third theory its
ROTOM´S ALT FORMS GALORE!!!!
:D:D:D
dagguis @ Aug 8th 2008 7:37PM
sorry its boom blox

Will Pokemon be agin about animals sometime soon? I am not saying I hate it, but there is something about the new designs...
TJF588 @ Aug 9th 2008 12:49AM
The only one with any promise from their silhouette (read: doesn't look like an ass-retarded bundle of polygons glued onto a ball) is that red one in the lower left.
Ng0zT @ Aug 9th 2008 1:15AM
I have analyzed these photos extensively and the results say: not alt forms of rotom but in fact involve Rotom in general.
info_dude @ Aug 9th 2008 11:56AM
The title of this article should have been "Whos that pokemon. lol
KaBob799 @ Aug 9th 2008 7:19PM
I think its more likely they are alternate forms but if they are new pokemon, maybe they are gonna bring the count up to 500? Maybe they made a way to patch new pokemon into d/p, who knows.
Soapy911 @ Aug 10th 2008 6:14PM
they all look like trashcans with arms. i miss the old poke's =(
yomachaser @ Aug 11th 2008 6:03PM
What if it's one new pokemon with many forms like burmy, arceus or evee?
It could be a new steel type legend (looks robotic) that has a huge number of evolution choices through stones/plates etc.
Alaric @ Aug 12th 2008 7:05PM
Drifloon. I can see Rotom, but for some reason I'm just seeing... Drifloon. The point on the head and two appendages make me think Rotom, who also seems to have the most malleable features, and Drifloon has four appendages, but I'd like to see alternate versions of Drifloon too.....
yost @ Aug 13th 2008 5:13AM
the compatability is not an issue anymore all they have to do is release an update via the pokemon network (and incude a shiny pokemon) ... to update the pokemon list and it's done new pokemon on d/p pokedex and on battle revolution
Ro @ Aug 22nd 2008 6:41AM
I'm thinking three of those silhouettes are alternate forms of the three minor Regis (rock, ice, and steel). The other would be Rotom's and maybe the last would be Spiritomb's. Just a hunch.
linmon @ Sep 11th 2008 6:12AM
I think these are different forms of rotom which is ghost-electric. Maybe the forms will be
1. ghost-water
2. ghost-rock or ground
3. ghost-grass
4. ghost-fire
5. ghost-flying
Bobart @ Sep 13th 2008 7:56AM
They're rotom forms each one resembles a different type of ghost theres fire, grass, water, ice, flying, and then the normal electric forme.
