Look at these Ragnarok Online screens with a friend (or two)
Call it Ragnarok Sort-of-Online if you want, but the lessened online play doesn't change the fact that the screens for the slimmed-down portable (and single-player-focused) version of the MMO game look pretty good. So good, in fact, that held up next to similarly-sized screens from the original game, they look eerily familiar. Ragnarok Online DS does feature three-player parties over Wi-Fi in addition to a single player mode, and in our minds, that only extends the game's appeal. It's set for a debut in Japan in mid-December.

Does the field of view have to be so zoomed in??? Looks really uncomfortable....

Most likely just showing off graphics and sprites. I saw a zoomed-out screenshot in one of the page scans.

Looks ok, really, 'll give it a shot when it comes over here via downloaded rom on a friends ds, as I don't have mine. Why should i get one when i have 5 friends who has one, xDDDDDD.... Maybe this is the game that convinces me to get one.... maybe

RO without the stupidity that is OTHER RO PLAYERS? Cool! I would love to play this with my husband and a friend of ours. I miss my old character, but the server shenanigans and stupid other players got to be too much. :p (Clearly, present company is excepted.)

There are so many good RPGs coming out for the DS lately (both in NA and Japan). I feel so loved :)

Man, I'd love to see at least one great MMO from Nintendo. Of course, the Big N is very much a family brand, and I think that they're uncomfortable having kids play alongside adults (after all, video games have always been the scapegoat for almost every bad thing imaginable, and now the media wants all parents to believe that if their kid plays an online game, that every adult gamer out there is a sleazo just waiting to attack -- and I think N believes that too, or at least they want to cover their behinds "just in case"). Thus, by not including voice and typed chat, online gaming becomes a somewhat empty experience. I mean, it's fine for a mindless beat-em-up like SB Brawl, but MMO's need social interaction to work. And as a result of all this very guarded "friend code" obsessed mindset at Nintendo, we get games like Ragnarok DS. Once you strip away it's online interaction, you're going to have a very watered down RPG experience which will only appeal to the fans of the computer version... for about 5 minutes, until they go back to the *real* Ragnarok Online. I'm sure there will be some very minor wifi things you can do, like trade items with friends, but i don't think that will be nearly enough to make Ragnarok DS worthwhile (and the same prediction can be made for Maple Story DS). At least I have hope in Animal Crossing Wii -- I mean, if they're going out of their way to make a mic for the Wii, surely there must be more online interaction than "if we trade friend codes, you can come look at my town... and then get bored."

Lol...I wonder if they're going to manage all of Rune-Midgard on a DS cart...and wtf is that dancer-looking class? She's in every freakin' screen shot just about...and no, it's not a dancer/gypsy.
