Wii Warm Up: What's 'very affordable' for you?

Iwata's interview yesterday definitely sparked some debate within our little community here, but it would seem a lot of you didn't exactly chime in with your own thoughts on 'very affordable.' So, what price point would you like to see Wii MotionPlus set at? Is $20 a sweet spot? Would you mind paying as much as $30? Weigh in!

If you ask me $15 or less is VERY AFFORDABLE. If it is more than that than it is not priced friendly.

It shoud be between $5 and $10. Or they could just give them away for free, because a few extra accelerometers should have already been in the Wiimote.

I agree. Free is the magic word here. The Wii-mote + Analog stick makes it the most expensive controller out there. Now they are breaking it into three parts?

$80 gets you Guitar Hero AND a guitar!

If this add-on costs $20 it will bring the total of a Wii Remote and nun-chuck to $80.

Here's a thought, how about some more games Nintendo? If I were them I would be paying dividends towards Lucas Arts for the rights to publish the old SCUMM games on the VC at least!

Or another lazy idea - Best Of: Mario Party? I know Mario Party has had some great little multi-player games that they have retired. I would love to see a collection of the classics.

As it would appear that this technology is to improve on a current model rather than an add-on (as in Nintendo have tweaked the controller and can't remodel it because of the millions that it has already sold) I think Nintendo should offer them free. They can e-mail all console owners and give them a link to get their 4 motion plus packs for free.

They could give them away with the games too, with a link to get more for the number of wiimotes you have

I have only bought a classic controller because I have needed to, I haven't paid for any other add-on as they are not essential.

The motion plus is not an add-on, it will be an essential part of the wiimote and therefore should not be paid for.
(To put it in an extreme example, would you buy a car and then pay for the steering wheel?)

I'd say 14.99 to 19.99 alone and 29.99 to 39.99 in a bundle with wii sport resort.

I agree with Timdogg, if Nintendo can sell it for $15 or less, that's what they should do since this thing is apparently the latest necessity for Wii owners. I can see $20 happening just because that's what most of their accessories cost, but I think they should try harder with the MotionPlus.

And I will reiterate what I said yesterday; I'd prefer to buy a Wiimote (v2.0) with MotionPlus built in before buying this add-on.

I know it's coming.

I'd have to say that $10 to $20, anywhere in that price range, would be pretty affordable.
Less is always nice, but any more is stretching it.

$10. If Nintendo wants to charge more than that, they won't be getting my money. I'm not gonna say that the WMP does "what the wii remote should have done all along", cause I understand that this technology wasn't available at the time the Wii was introduced, but if they plan on making this a necessary item for many games, they should be charging the ABSOLUTE minimum for it.

Agreed all around. I expect it to be $20, but anything less would certainly be welcome. Personally, I'd like to see the nunchuck and classic controllers dropped to $15 sometime soon, too...but oh well...

I think $15 is the correct price point. I'd like it to be less, but I suspect $15 is the correct selling price.

I say $15 retail and a free one for people for people who purchased Wii's earlier on within a certain time frame.

I still think this is BS since this feature should have been included in the first Wiimote builds.

$10 is "Very affordable". And I don't mean "$10 more than this game would be if we didn't include it, so when you spend $50, you're really getting it for $10". That said, if they want to charge 50 bucks for Wii Sports Resort, and throw in 4 M+'s, I can be amenable.

I'm definitely in favor of them being free but I see how that is not possible. It would be awesome if they were only like 5 bucks but again, very unlikely. I can guarantee I won't pay more than 15 dollars for them. That just ads up too quickly.

It should be similar to the silicon sleeves, go to the nintendo website and have them send you as many as you need, or at least a discount as opposed to buying them at full retail which shouldn't be more than 15$ considering that it'll soon be an essential add-on if Nintendo decides to give third party developers the info on how to use it.

The one thing that's confused me about the wm+ though is that the bottom looks flat, where do we plug in a nunchuck? Am I just missing the hole, or does something flip up?

If you look at the right Wiimote's(with no sleeve) Motionplus, it looks to me like there's a flap there that you would flip up to plug a nunchuck/classic controller in.

When I think "very affordable" I think $10-$15. If you have 4 Wii remotes buying one for each could get expensive. Any more than $10-$15 for an accesory that only two games that we know of is not going to justify a purchase. If they had more games coming down the pipe sooner that would utilize it then maybe.

I've said it before. $10 is the magic number. New Wiimotes with this built in could sell for $50. So if you already own a Wiimote, it will only cost $10 more to add WiiMotionPlus, bringing the total to $50. This is a fair price point. Anything higher will be seen as a ripoff by too many Wii owners who already feel a bit nickle and dimed. Make it $10 and it'll definitely sell.

I would agree with the $5 max comment. Considering the full controller (remote + nunchuk) costs $60 and the fact that it puts the price point higher than the PS3 and the 360, there is definitely no way I would pay more than $5. And even then, $65 for a controller? That's just ridiculous. I own 4 remotes and nunchuks so that's another $20? I've already dropped $240 on controllers alone.

I think the money-making machine at Nintendo should strongly consider giving these to current Wii remote owners. They could even do a 1 per household or something as a goodwill gesture. And they should also come pre-packaged with the new Wii remotes and the price should not increase from the $40 they cost currently.

100% agree... I've spent a fortune on Wii controllers already, just the thought of buying 4 of these at 15 makes my stomach cringe.

I've got 4 PS3 controllers and that cost under $200...

Doing the math is frightening me.

$5 max, otherwise pleasssse make them free for current Wii owners!

P.S. I agree with the poster several up --- Please make more games that are good and not anymore damn accessories!

I would call $10 "very affordable", but even at that price, it's still 25% of what a plain remote costs.

My guess is they will charge 20 dollars a piece for WMP. I'm not 100% sure but I thought they announced Wii sports will cost $50. I don't think I would buy any additional WMP accessories for more then 15 dollars.

They should send me four new wiimotes with this feature integrated, not as an add-on. This package should include a return envelope that I will send my old wiimotes back in. Then I would be happy.

I'm not going to pay to buy four of these to stick on my current wiimotes when this should have been in them to begin with. And I am not going to buy four of these add-ons just to have Nintendo start coming out with games that use this AND some wiimote shell, which will require you to buy totally new wiimotes with this feature integrated.

IMO they should be about $10. The Wii remotes are already about $50 so it shouldn't cost more to get what Nintendo originally planned for them.

If they cost $20 + that is way to much...but I'm sure I'll spend it anyways.

Iwata said himself that it doesn't cost much to make the thing. Honestly, I could see $5-10 easily. He mentioned how a lot of people would have to get 4 of it, so

5x4=$20 (Nunchuck/Classic)
10x4=$40 (Wiimote price)

I think that Nintendo should be giving out one free to each Wii Owner as a gesture of good faith. Do the same thing that was done with the Wiimote jackets, but only ship out one per console so that people can see what it does before investing more money into an add-on.

Well the Wiimote is overpriced as it is, so I reckon it should be free.

Seems odd that the average price over here is £34.99 (with that WiiPlay piece of crap) and yet a local, legit retailer near me sells them for £18.99. Probably goes to show how much the mainstream stores overcharges people.

If I had to pay however, maybe £5 no more. With WiiSports 2, depending on what the other games are like maybe £20.

The absolute most I'd go would be $15 per single attachment. Seriously, anymore, and you've exceeded the price of a 360/PS3 game for 4 small attachments. Not to mention you're already dumping $40 + $20 on a single Remote+Nunchuck combo. I will be damned if it had to be $80 for fully compatible controller.

15-20 would be ideal, because if you think of it, the wii remote has 3 acceletometers, bluetooth, the front sensor, plus all the buttons and they sell that for 45 bucks. It seems to me that the company would be making more than enough if they sold it for 15.

seems to me that WiiMotion Plus, is what the wiimote should already do. time to make new wiimotes and let us trade them in. the new wiimotes should also have a button to mute wiispeak...

wiimote: 40
nunchuck: 20

that is 240 for the standard control scheme... another 20 for wiiMotion, brings it to 320. without classic controllers(another 20), without wiispeak, without a b-board(another 90).

all together that is 450 without wiispeak, and only two classic controllers--does anyone need more? can anyone really afford more?
