Michael Bay presents: Metal Slug 7
The latest trailer for Metal Slug 7 gets a computer-generated "brushed steel and industrial noises" presentation usually reserved for commercials about truck sales ... or movies for dudes. It makes huge, bombastic claims: "THE ULTIMATE CHARACTERS." "THE ULTIMATE WEAPONS." "THE ULTIMATE GAME."
Like a Michael Bay movie, Metal Slug 7 is full of big explosions, big machines, and big explosions. And like the average Michael Bay movie, it's going to be a challenge to get all the way through it. However, unlike, say, Transformers, we expect to enjoy Metal Slug 7 for as many as two hours. Probably more!

I still hate how the bottom screen is reduced to a crappy map screen. They could've done a little more with it.

The first time I saw Transformers I really liked it, but I had taken a few tylenol 3 with codeine because my back was hurting from sleeping on the floor; the second time it didn't seem as good, but I thought that was because I didn't like the theater I was at. When I watched on DVD I realized just how boring it really was.
Hopefully Metal Slug won't work the same way.

I totally agree with you, Transformers was awesome the first time I watched it in the theaters. But after a few days, it came to me that the movie was quite mediocre, and was only saved by the good special effects. -_-
Waffala @ Aug 5th 2008 9:13PM
Yeah, the special effects were good, too bad the movie wasn't about the awesome CG robots though and was instead some tawdry teen romance.

Michael Bay demands things to be AWESOME

it's so stupid why they couldn't install multiplayer option for this game, it ruins pretty much most of it
this game hasn't much replay value without multiplayer as it only got seven levels

No Metal Slug 7 multiplayer? Fuck that!
CHWong @ Aug 6th 2008 5:16AM
Metal Slug 7 lags on the DS. I've played the Jap version and it is HORRIBLE. If there's any explosions on screen, you won't be able to dodge a thing. It disappointed me big time.
ojsinnerz @ Aug 6th 2008 3:01PM
No multiplayer, 7 very short stages = fail. Still better than the 4th MS, but this one was very disappointing.

Ah, Metal Slug -- as a longtime NeoGeo fanboy, how can I not love you? But geez, people want to complain about how every new Castlevania or Phoenix Wright game is more of the same -- play a few of the Metal Slug games, and you may not be so critical of those aforementioned series'. Don't get me wrong, all the Metal Slug games are very good, addictive, and even after I've beat them, I've gone back and played them again because of their blend of "deep action gaming" (Contra reference for ya, there!) and zany cartoon violence. But yeah, there's nothing new in Metal Slug 7 to speak of... there's no real graphical upgrade over any previous games in the series (well, there is a *little* eycandy -- the bosses are very detailed and have some great animations). This game just isn't worth $35. If you want your fill of Metal Slug for a much better price, pick up Metal Slug Anthology for PSP (or one of the consoles) -- it has Metal Slug X and 1-6 (previous to the Anthology, the only way to play MS 6 was in the arcade on the short lived Atomiswave board, unlike the earlier games that were all on NeoGeo).

I have the Japanese build, and this games a real shame, the musics brilliant quality the bosses are huge, but theres just no charm to it, infact this game takes itself all too seriously, as well as having some absolutely dire level layouts that drain the fun out of it by having deaths that you cannot avoid at all, I'm looking at you especially level 2's gun turret/train track area. I really hope the next ones on consoles, just so you can see what the hell is going on over the entire screen.

Transformers (2007) was a great movie.
