Homebrew app Ocarina makes cheating that much easier
You've got to love the Homebrew community. They're constantly trying to cut corners and this latest app, Ocarina, is no different. Instead of spending time inputting button commands in-game, you can simply inject them, Game Genie or Action Replay-style, into the game. For example, in Twilight Princess, the Ocarina app allows the user to climb ladders super fast, have infinite bombs and use a variety of items underwater. Among other things, Link can also use the Spinner in a really imaginative way.

Can't people set up their cameras so it doesn't sound like there's a fan blowing directly on the microphone?

sounds like he's got a washing machine going in the background

Using the Clawshot anywhere definitely is awesome. Suddenly Link becomes Spider-Man.

having never played the game, i have absolutely no idea what makes that video even remotely interesting. :\

Having never have played the game, why would you even consider watching or even dare comment about it? :/
Jeff @ Aug 4th 2008 6:05PM
hahah "even dare" - don't be so dramatic.
I was just thinking "game genie" and thought i'd see some of that good-ole "character throwing 16 huge bombs at a time" trickery - these changes SEEM relatively subtle, though maybe the game is much more slow-paced and boring that i was thinking. (thus making this video seem fast-paced and exciting by comparison?)

Good thing you commented then.

Well, having never played the game, you wouldn't know that the clawshot does not normally have NEARLY that range, so the possibility lies to cross huge gaps without having to reveal a bridge or something. Also, many items couldn't normally be used underwater and Link cannot jump in place from the ground to the roof of a house (I think that's what I say after the clawshot bit). The spinner trick could allow you to get to some higher places without having to traverse the winding paths that bring you up. So, no, the changes aren't subtle at all.
And this isn't even everything that's in the application, hence "Among other things ..." in the description.

I saw this on Wiibrew yesterday, looks pretty neat. If it's not hard to install and works with the Homebrew Channel I will install it and try it out. I remember watching some YouTube videos of people using the Action Replay in the GameCube version of Twilight Princess and wishing I could do the same in the Wii version, maybe now I can.
gamepete64 @ Aug 4th 2008 5:55PM
That's really awesome. It would have been great as an unlockable glitch or something in the game though. The Spinner thing is soooo cool.
Mr Khan @ Aug 4th 2008 7:19PM
Opens up Action Replay capabilities, and because it's homebrew, the codes will all be fun and interesting. Nothing dumb
Patius @ Aug 4th 2008 11:10PM
I wonder if there is a glitch quest mode in TP?
that would be awesome.
Tim Parsons @ Aug 11th 2008 6:20PM
so is this out yet? I just rented Twilight Princess and am about to install Homebrew channel and stuff but can't find this anywhere
Tim Parsons @ Aug 12th 2008 12:23AM
everytime i try using this with TP it freezes on a black screen just after the Wii strap warning screen goes away
Tim Parsons @ Aug 12th 2008 1:40AM
when it's not freezing it's just not working(the codes) + it removes all sound except that which comes from the Wiimote WTF
