The DS Life: More of the same

No one's looking -- at least, no one she can see -- which means it's the right moment for a little break. After the chaos of doing and cleaning and accomplishing, it's such a relief to reach into a pocket and feel the cool, smooth corners of a DS Lite. The oblivion of game time is only a few seconds away, and when that's all you have to spare, those moments are precious.

Unless, of course, you're really stuck somewhere and just can't figure out what to do next. Blast! Flickr photog posixeleni caught this moment away from the hectic grind on film, though it doesn't exactly look like a real break.
While Eric, our usual host, is off enjoying a break, we recommend everyone else take one, too. No matter what you're doing, take a moment for yourself and enjoy a little time with your DS. Let's just hope it's actually relaxing.

As much as I like the *idea* of on-the-go handheld gaming, I find it doesn't work out in practice. There are few times in my day when I can whip out the DS and play during a break; and if I did, I'd feel too rushed to enjoy it. During a lunch break, I need at least one hand to eat, so playing a game is too awkward till I've finished my meal. Oddly enough, I end up using my DS mostly at home, even though there's a PC in the same room. A couple times I've taken it with me when I knew I'd be waiting for someone for a while, and it worked out then. But I was sitting in Starbucks, relaxing with a good block of time on my hands.
And no, it wasn't exactly relaxing. It was challenging and exciting, but that's kinda what I wanted.

I agree with patrick. I also kinda like the idea of the ds being a game-on-the-go. But me being a buyer of the handheld with its games on the priority list, I usulally play games that would commit me to a few..*cough*.. hours.. I usually play strategy, rpg.
