Tetris Party to rock WiiWare this fall, utilizes Balance Board
We just received a press release concerning upcoming Tetris Party. It's set to grace WiiWare this fall, meaning that North American gamers will be able to pick up the title this year and not later, as we were fully expecting. Other than that, the press release doesn't offer us much else to go on.
Oh, wait, yes it does! The game will include "modes that utilize the unique point-and-shoot capabilities of the Wii Remote." But, the fun doesn't stop there. The game will also support "the recently released Wii Balance Board." Yes, you just read that correctly. The rumor is true. How it will be utilized is anyone's guess at this point, however.
Also, an official site has launched for the game, but it isn't too full of content right now.

I'm guessing you bang left and right to rotate, and bang both to drop.

Oh hang on how do you move?? Leaning, then stomping?

But I dont WANNA play Tetris with a balance board!

I would guess that you move left and right on the board to move the Tetris piece left and right and then you hold the Wii mote in one hand and use it to rotate the piece.

Dammit. I said Breakout with the Balance Board, not Tetris. Breakout!

Don't make me stand to play my Tetris! :|
(I'm sure it'll be fun.)

I'm sure you could sit down while your feet are on the balance board...
... not sure how awkward that'll feel.

As long as this game has online, I will be happy with it...though I wish it would utilize WiiSpeak instead of the Balance Board...that's something that would sweeten the $30 price tag!

You can never have too many versions of Tetris
Will definately be picking this one up....and hopefully Wii Fit eventually

All of the screenshots of this game I've seen show a "ghost" piece below the falling piece. I really hope they include the option to turn this off, just like Dr. Mario Online Rx. I will be very sad if there is no way to turn it off.

CAN'T WAIT!!!! xD
i hope this is below 200 blocks, becuase thats all i have left :(

Oh dear God. Please tell me this is a joke. Tetris with the Balance Board? A little bit of sick just came up.
I can't take any more tacky gimmicks!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realize that it is only a special mode that utilizes the Balance Board - the regular game is still played with the Wii remote held sideways.

Until now I was still debating whether to download the game (as I already have several Tetris games on various platforms), but this actually sealed the deal.
The Balance Board mode sounds pretty cool as it makes it like human Tetris. Sure you wouldn't use it for competitive play, but it will still be fun. Combined with the full regular competitive online mode (and Mii's!) this game sounds great.
I would especially love it if they had a demo you could send friends like with Dr. Mario.

Wow, I just checked out the website and was impressed with the different game modes (they showed several in screenshots, but it says there will be 18 in all).
There are the usual modes like Marathon and Wi-Fi Battle, but there are also modes like Co-Op and Balance Board Marathon.
