Get a glimpse of Disgaea DS
Both veteran Disgaea fans and new fans who want to experience the series for the first time are getting ready for the release of Disgaea DS. The strategizing won't begin until September 23rd, but until then, it's a good idea for us to know exactly what we're getting into by observing some gameplay action.
We think that the presentation is pretty nice on the DS, and although the graphics may have toned down in the translation, the visuals aren't wanting for anything. As for the gameplay, Disgaea virgins will notice from the videos that while the grid-based style is familiar, the actual execution differs from many other strategy games.
Come September, we're ready to sacrifice hundreds of hours of our lives playing this title. Are you with us?
More battle footage lies after the break!

I've never played Disgaea (primary reason why I'm so interested in this--not to mention it's cheaper than the averaged used copy of the PS2 version), but I have played fellow NIS SRPG La Pucelle Tactics and loved that. The interface looks nearly identical, so I expect great things from this.

This game is why I didn't bother buying a copy of FFT A2.
....So you know I'm looking forward to it.

I've never played the original either, so I'm also excited. I do have a PS2, but I just don't like consoles very much, I prefer handhelds (and the DS is a dream come true for me, a handheld with an extensive library) ^^

My friend apparently bought the original version for me and it's en route to me now. If I absolutely love it, I'll pick up the DS version just for the sake of portability. :P

For what it's worth, I've got a copy of the original and I'm totally buying the DS version for the sake of portability. I'm a sucker for SRPGs, true, but it's a pretty awesome game.

Don't get your hopes up. Yes, the graphics are a pixel-y, but the music it totally watered down. After hundreds of hours grinding on the PS2 version, it really grates on the nerves of die-hard fans. Plus, there's no audio for the pre-battle dialogue.
'But the playability of Plenair makes up for it!' you say? Then why haven't I gotten more than 24 hours on it? Every time I start to play, I just put it back down after a couple of battles.

Eh, no big loss if you personally don't buy Disgaea again.

Totally buying this game....again.....for the third time....
You read that right.

I bought this game for PS2 about a week or two before they announced it for DS. I've played it about 4 hours and liked it a lot, so I let it sit until this is released.

I'm new to the game, but I'm really looking forward to this. :]

I got this game for the PSP and loved it, although I'm not sure I'd be able to get used to it with the DS's small screen. I might pick it up anyway, just to see.
The top screen's map layout is pretty ugly, too. Couldn't they have put in color-coded elevation? That would've been neat.
