Dragon Quest V hits a million in Japan
The start made by Dragon Quest V: Hand of a Heavenly Bride in Japan is hardly going to deter Square Enix from releasing more remakes (which we're completely fine with, by the way). Famitsu is reporting that the title has already burst through the million units sold mark, a meager thirteen days after it first appeared on Japanese store shelves. You won't be surprised to hear that it's currently creaming everything else in the charts over there. If a remake of a sixteen-year-old Dragon Quest SNES game can hit seven figures inside its opening fortnight, then perhaps Dragon Quest IX really can reach Yoichi Wada's lofty expectations ... and then some.

I hear tell Dragon Quest IX is going to be a 2 cart game.
I hope that's true.

its about time, seems like no company has enough courage to try the 2 gig cards, expect mistwalker with ASH. I'm still crossing my fingers for the NA release of ASH, although it's less likely as more time passes....

No, I mean 2 carts. Two seperate carts. The theory is Dragon Quest IX will be ridiculously long and epic.

AJ: How would that even work? With the save data, and everything?
Plus, it would almost certainly be cheaper to produce one, double-capacity card than two separate cards (and accompanying special packaging, etc.).

Honestly, I have no idea. I've just heard that DQIX was going to be a dual cart.
My theory, though, is that the game would transfer your save data to the DS's internal memory when you beat cart 1, then put it on to cart 2 immediately. That wouldn't be so hard. I mean, if you can download data to the DS from your friend's cart to play a two-player game, why not?
How much memory do the carts have, though? Do the carts work like flash cards? Because I have seen 16 gig flash cards, and it can't be unreasonable to presume that a DS cart could, in theory, have quite a bit of memory available.

That rumour was started ages ago with a photoshopped image. There is no point in two cart games on the DS, the cart capacity can be increased for cheaper.
