Comcast sweetens 'Triple Play' package with a free Wii
If you're willing (or, like many who want to watch TV and use the Internet, forced) to be gouged by Comcast on their "Triple Play" package, they'll go to the trouble of tracking down a Wii for you -- and then pay for it as well. Of course, there are catches to the free Wii program -- other than the fact that you have to pay for the digital phone service that is one of the three components of the Triple Play.
If you want a Wii, you have to sign up for two years of the service, and you have to be a new customer. And you have to do this by August 17. But at least this offer is better than dealing with Comcast sans bribe!
As was the case with Comcast's free DS offer, this promotion is accompanied by an excellent commercial.

I mirror the sentiments expressed by commenters on the joystiq article
DO NOT COMMIT TO COMCAST. I cannot stress this enough. Having them control your every link to the outside world (except Cell Phones, but i have personal issues with those) can only lead to disaster. The work together with cities and townships to build a legal monopoly where they actually charge customers more, in order to buy the monopoly rights from the municipality. They've been taking away channels off of their analog cable plan in my area in order to "encourage" the holdouts (like us) from upgrading to their madly overpriced digital standard package
Finally, their customer service is rock-bottom in the country
Sign your soul away to Satan if you want a Wii. Don't commit to Comcast, however

Signing up for Comcast is tantamount to signing away your soul, your unborn children and your common sense to Satan. ;) You hit it spot-on, love.
I'm extremely fortunate to have gotten my Wii about a month after launch and, though I definitely paid a bit more for it (not too bad) I feel as though I dodged a bullet of sorts.
Seriously, people. If you want a Wii that badly (and I mean to own, not resell) then spend some time finding one that doesn't have a demonic multimedia contract attached to it.

I have the comcast triple play and I am sorry, but it is so worth the money "IF" you are someone that is into Hi-Def and not into Premium Channels like HBO, Starz and that stuff. I pay 109.99 for the triple play and it includes all the Hi-def channels. If I would switch to Dish to get what I have with comcast would cost me $100 and that doesn't include my internet or my phone then i would be stuck with only being able to have 4 TV's in my house. Right now we have 6 and soon to be a 7th outside. I only need Hi-def on 1 tv and the rest of them have built in digital tuners. If you are like me and stuck in an area where DSL doesn't exist and comcast is the only player, this isn't a bad deal. Also when my year is up I just call and tell them that i am going to go to Dish and they throw something free at me. This time it was Starz free for 1 year. Last year it was a $10 credit on my bill so essentially I received free HD programming.

Normal Triple Play doesn't qualify for the Wii. I personally checked on and rechecked to make sure as my gf is dying to get a free Wii.
If we wanted to qualify for the free Wii, we had to pay 145$ + tax a month for the first 12 months, after that it jumps to 190$ + tax a month.
With as much as they charge you could get 2.5 Wii's a year!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS "DEAL"
Justin @ Jul 30th 2008 7:42PM
i am not saying do the Triple Play to get your free Wii. I was just simply stating that the Triply Play is a good deal when you compare apples to apples not apples to oranges. I didn't get a Wii and would not have taken that offer, because i too agree that you could by a Wii, PS3, and Xbox360 in the time they have you in a contract.
Feba @ Jul 30th 2008 8:47PM
The problem with your "Apples V. Oranges" argument is that the apples, in this case, are poisoned.
Justin @ Jul 31st 2008 9:09AM
That is too funny.
Feba @ Jul 30th 2008 7:16PM
As above, do not even consider this. If you're so desperate for a Wii, sell your body to strangers. It will leave you feeling less used and icky than Comcast will.
nintendo1889 @ Jul 30th 2008 8:48PM
Comcast can't be as bad as OTHER ISPs (*cough*AOL/Digis *cough*!) Sure, it's not the best, but it gets me where I need to be as far as Internet surfing's concerned.
Haohmaru @ Jul 30th 2008 10:26PM
Wow, lots of Comcast hate here. Personally, I've never had a problem with the company on the technical or customer service level. As for the deal itself - of course you should NOT get it just for the Wii, but for someone who was considering getting that level of service ANYWAY it's a nice little extra. :P
KeegdnaB @ Jul 30th 2008 10:43PM
There are 2 things wrong with that offer
1) I already own a Wii
2) Comcast
Phil @ Jul 31st 2008 5:20PM
What the **** is with all this comcast hate?
If the prices are too much for you then that is your guys problem. Bitch about the prices all you ****ers want but I've gotten perfectly fine service from them
They've always solved my problems, I RARELY ever have a service blackout on internet (and if I do, either there is work being done within my area OR it comes back within 5-10 minutes), my cable always works fine and, oh yeah, so does my phone service!
And some people don't have a choice you assholes. Regions offer different restrictions on availability of a service.
Jesus, I have NEVER seen this much pointless hating in my life. If you wanna hate on a company because of prices, hate on a different one... Like one that actually has PROBLEMS.
And besides, do what I do if you don't like the price... Say you'll switch to Verizon. That's what my neighbor's did and they got a discount on their bill.
