We ain't afraid of no ghosts, just cancellation
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, who ya gonna call? Ghostbust ... er ... well, maybe not.
With the Blizzavision merger, a few Sierra titles (like Ghostbusters) may get the axe. When it comes to efficiency, Sierra has been deemed a "non-strategic business unit," which (we're sure we don't have to tell you) is not good. While the recently merged publisher reports that Sierra franchises like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will be safe, the fate of Ghostbusters is still up in the air.
Offering a bit of reassurance, Sierra claims, "[Ghostbusters] is not cancelled and will not be cancelled." Some words from the people with the money, though, would probably make us feel better.

I like Ghostbusters because when I say "why am I dripping with goo?", people think it's because of the movie, instead of the inproprieties the evening before...
jfrdricks63 @ Jul 29th 2008 5:17PM
I doubt very many people would buy a game based on an old franchise of a movie...

Why would they cancel a game that is already so close to finalization?!
Spekkio @ Jul 30th 2008 3:37AM
It wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

Unless the game it's a real real garbage and they discovered it a couple of day ago, it will not be cancelled.
The marketing is working on it even now, the last events where in this weekends, a really huge sum of money has been spent on the repro of two Ghost Car that are travelling trough Eupean cities...

I think the real tragedy here is...
"Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will be safe"
Yuck.

After E3, this is the only wii game game I am looking forward to.
The "enhanced version" for the other consoles is also the reason I will finally shell out the cash for a 360.

The game itself isn't canceled, as Sierra has stated. It's still being developed, and Sierra has every intention of releasing it. ActiBlizz, stupidly, has just decided not to publish the game. Another publisher can swoop in anytime and distribute it instead of ActiBlizz. The sky isn't falling yet, people, so relax. We'll all get a chance to virtually bust ghosts, but it might be a little later than expected due to this snafu.
