Resident Evil 4 vs. Resident Evil 5
After watching the video, we don't see why the game couldn't come to the Wii. Granted, the graphics won't be as pretty, but everything else should translate simply enough. With that said, we wouldn't be surprised if Capcom one day ported the game, especially after announcing Dead Rising: Chop 'Til You Drop for the Wii.
Of course, RE5 still has a long way to go in development, so there maybe something else under the title's zombified sleeves that will end up surprising us.
[Thanks, Adam!]

Nintendo made Resident Evil famous with it's controller, and Wii control for the Wii edition. In fact reviews shows the Wii edition better then the NGC again for the controllers. I find very stupid from them not make the new one not on the Wii. Cpacom was able to make RS4 have better graphics then the XBox, they can do the same with RS5, I am sure.

I completely agree. The Wii controls for RE4 were unquestionably the best on any platform; it would be stupid not to follow-up.

You might want to check again. The Wii version has a lower average than the GameCube version. I liked the Controls on the wii, but the more hectic fell of the laser was more fun to me.
Also, I doubt Resident Evil 5 will make its way to the Wii. Just because most hardcore gamers own a 360 or PS3.
With the PSN and XBLM, they can make more money with DLC, so economically it wouldn't make sense to release a wii version. I'm not hating on the wii, I'm just telling it how I see it.

RE was famous before Nintendo. Also, the Wii version was fun, but I still liked the GC version better, though I think a reason being that the GC controls were a little more complicated and required more skill so I liked the challenge.
seetrapp @ Jul 29th 2008 7:37AM
Games shouldn't be more challenging because of the controls.

Capcom, I would buy Resident Evil 5 for Wii in a second. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games ever. But if RE5 doesn't come out for Wii, then I won't be getting it at all.

What is this, console discrimination!!? So what if the graphics on the wii suck compared to others. First Soul Caliber IV and now this! Who are these people who decide what ports go to what system? Retards? Hypocrites? Cowards? All of the above. Then again, there are some games better not ported at all (i.e. Lair).

The only time this really gets to me is when a company releases a game on the PS3 and/or the Xbox360, yet won't release a version of the game for the Wii stating that the system lacks the power/graphics/etc. to pull it off properly, only to turn around and release a version of the game for the PSP or DS. Now that REALLY gets me pissed off. That and when sequels come out for games that used to be available on all three platforms, but now are only available on Ps3 and/or Xbox360. Burnout and Soul Caliber (and Resident Evil, if the rumored port turns out to be false), I'm looking directly at you. Oh well, live and learn. I love my Wii (it's also the only current gen. console I own and I can't afford another), but next console generation, It's unlikely I'll be buying from Nintendo again. I'm just missing out on too many great games here.

I look at games like RE4 and the Metroid Prime series and I say graphics shmaphics. It's obvious that last gen graphics for GCN were capable of giving a great game. I think the Wii's graphical capabilities are fine considering how RE4 looks on GCN. But what pisses me off are the 3rd party companies that dont put the games on the Wii. I'm considering buying an Xbox360 just for the RPGs alone.

Times have changed and developers are afraid of making that bold move. Porting RE5 will cost time and money and despite the critical acclaim RE4 received. We are now in a graphic whore era and unfortunately seeing RE5 scaled back may not be what Capcom wishes. Sadly Capcom has been able to step outside of the box and deliver great stuff that doesn't require super duper graphics (viewtiful joe) but I'm afraid they are going to try to appease the masses that are guaranteed to buy RE5 and that will be those on 360 and PS3.

Im kind of glad they didnt announce the "next Zelda or Mario". Like Miyamoto said, they will do so when they have a good idea for a sequel. Since when has milking the top franchises been catering to core gamers? Its odd that first we complain at the lack of new IPs (some of us anyway) but now claim to be disapointed because ANOTHER mario or zelda was not shown...
zwarrior @ Jul 28th 2008 10:46PM
crap... I clciked on the wrong article, I meant to comment on the one below >_>

LOL.

Looks like the same gameplay, slightly better graphick (aside from resolutuin and textures and polygon count of cours :-P but you don't see that in this video) and muuuuuuch more camera movement.
kungfujunkie2002 @ Jul 29th 2008 10:06AM
resident evil umbrella chronicles is a game that on any other system would have absolutely blown. it would have been too short and with traditional controllers would have made the game play lackluster and boring. but, with the wii remotes the game play changed. taking aim and blowing the head off of a zombie with a wii mote is much more satisfying than just moving the target cursor with a analog stick. game play took a mediocre game and made it addictive. i think it can do the same with RE 5, making a good game into an excellent game.
when capcom released RE 4 for the NGC many people said the game was so good it was worth buying a game cube just to play that game and many people did. there is enough people with a wii that there is a good market to sell a lot of copies of RE 5. considering this, i feel that if RE 5 isn't released for the wii many fans will feel slighted by the decision.
leonus11 @ Jul 29th 2008 1:00PM
oh please a console doesn't superb graphics to be great. the gamecube had much more graphics then ps2 and the ps2 STILL got RE4 (of course the graphics weren't as great as the GNC RE4). but you see thats the only bad thing PS3 and XBOX360 fans can say about the wii. that the graphics SUCK compared to the PS3 and 360. wii has the wiimote and nunchuck. it also has the gamecube and classic controllers. it has NINTENDO WFC (which is improving DRASTICALLY). go to gamefaqs and check out the ratings they gave RE4 for the ps2! and not only gamefaqs but many other sites! so don't come complaining that it would suck just because the Wii's graphics aren't the best!
James @ Jul 29th 2008 6:16PM
Given a choice though, I would definitely get it for PS3 or 360....
...because the graphics are better.
Garst @ Jul 29th 2008 8:40PM
I haven't been big into the RE series; especially not after that insident with those does dogs or red heads. But do have a great memory when a friend played RE4 and put his controller down during a cutscene. You should have seen and heard him when he got a knife in the neck.
Polecat @ Jul 30th 2008 3:58PM
real early in the video, it looked like Chris's gun had a laser sight dancing off of objects in the background. Hopefully it'll translate to use of a wiimote apparatus. Hopefully anyhow... though, S & M both have their own wannaWii devices in developement... I'd still love to see RE continue to have titles on the Wii.
