Igarashi definitely looking at WiiWare; we plead for 2D Castlevania
If Castlevania Judgment leaves you confused and alarmed, you can relax a litle; it seems Koji Igarashi spent a lot of time at E3 telling people that this whole WiiWare thing looks pretty cool. Just the other day, we heard from Wired about budget issues and the impact Mega Man could have on Castlevania, and now MTV Multiplayer further word with Igarashi on WiiWare. "I'm definitely interested in WiiWare and I think it's one of the areas that 2D can still be very strong at. I'm very much looking into that."It seems Mega Man 9 really is going to determine the fate and future of a certain style of gaming, so it's a good thing it looks so completely awesome. We have little doubt that a great Castlevania title on WiiWare could cause just as much excitement, and probably yield the same results. Let's just hope Konami figures that out, too.

On top of everything posted so far, EGM lists a rumor that Konami might be bringing a retro classic back in 2D.
*crosses fingers for linear (pre metroidvania) Castlevania game*

"I think [WiiWare is] one of the areas that 2D can still be very strong at."
So...2D can be strong when it's downloaded but not when it's on a disc? Am I the only one who thinks this guy seems to be sinking further into insanity?
Kia @ Jul 26th 2008 3:24PM
I agree.
I personally hate this trend of digital distribution in general. I'm all for it in simple games like the XBLA service, or virtual console. But I am not fond, at all, of big name titles being digital only.
It ruins the secondhand market, it ruins collector's value, it ruins the tactile sense of having your collection lined up in your gaming center...there's not a single thing I like about it.

i'm on the internet channel on my wii, i do not own a wiikeyboard. BTW whats the point in making a really good 3-D game when you can take less time and effort making an alright 2-D game. Dont get me wroung wario and guilty gear are really good looking 2-D titles its the 8-bit thats just lazy. I could make an 8 bit castlevania using my computer. On another note they made a new mario game instead of being a platfomer its a fighting game and yall love it. And those grafhics are early ps2 are late ps1 @ best.
