Iwata: Keep dreaming of a white console Christmas
Whether or not you've been able to find Wiis in stores as of late, the holiday season is a completely different beast. Even now, in July, company president Satoru Iwata can't promise that there will be enough Wiis stocked to meet demand this Christmastime. If Wiis are scarce, this will be the third holiday season in a row that people in the U.S. and UK have had difficulty locating the console.
Iwata promises that the company is doing everything in its power to avoid this situation, and is on schedule to develop 2.4 million units for 2008 by the end of the year.
We can imagine only that some other Nintendo stock (we're looking at you, Wii Fit) will be a nightmare to find this holiday season, too.
[Thanks, Thomas!]

Just a note here... the 360 is white, and the PS3 also has a white version.
I know I will have a white xmas, with my 360, but I'll prob mix in a little black with my PS3 aswell.

Kudos to sticking it to those PC bastards. It's "Christmas" - now and forever!

This reason alone makes me glad I got one at launch. We still have people who make lines in wait when any store is able to pinpoint when they'll get a shipment in.

Well our Nintendo Rep at the Target where I work said we can start expecting weekly Wii shipments pretty soon, so they're really making progress on that front. Last time I was in we still had about 30 left in the stock room.
The bad news is that he said Wii Fit and Mario Kart are both going to remain impossible to find (Why Kart? is the Wheel so complex they can't mold enough plastic?). Bummer huh?

Ninty... I have been attempting to purchase Mario Kart Wii since mid-June. I find it pathetic that a Wii AAA title is not in stock anywhere less that 3 months after its release. Wii Fit makes a tad more sense that it would be hard to find since it was not an established fan favorite franchise yet.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TEAR MY HEART OUT, NINTENDO?
Tristan @ Jul 23rd 2008 12:41PM
Wow. But I can see Wiis on store shelves now, although for a brief time.

Well, i went to the states like a month ago, i went to phoenix, on the Fry's electronics near Arizona Mills i saw 7 Wii's in stock.
Wii is ard to find, yeah, but not impossible. But this makes me wonder. With so many wii's sold, who hasn't got a hold of one already???

here in the Netherlands, wii's are in stock everywhere...

Iwata should keep dreaming if he expects me to buy another. My mom asked for one for Christmas (already).. So I gave her mine and got an Xbox.
FUN! (F You Nintendo)

This brings new meaning to the phrase "Christmas in July."

Oh yeah. The Wiis here in South Carolina are extremely scarce. I had to call every electronics store within 30 miles of here for 2 weeks before I found one. Finally, on Friday, 2 Gamestops had them in, with 1 having only 1 Wii, and the other store only having 2. But, nonetheless, I managed to get there in time to get me a Wii. I can't even imagine what it would have been like during Christmas time.

Here in central PA the 2 target stores in my town had 15 each and at 5pm they were still here. Every other store though none in sight. What's the deal with Mario Kart? I can walk into just about any store and buy it?

The source article (and this one) has a slight mistake. Nintendo is making 2.4 million Wiis *per month*.
