Rumor: Pikmin 3 to bloom next March?

Okay, we'd advise you take this news with a
- March 27th, 2009 is a rather random date to simply pluck out of thin air, don'cha think?
- It's also a Friday, the day when games usually launch in Euroland.
- Play is a UK-based site, so this may well be a European date (if it's even true).
- The specificity of the date only makes it more convincing to us.
- March 27th, 2009 really is quite a long way off. Boo hoo.

That's called a placeholder.
WiiiiFanboy @ Jul 20th 2008 2:45PM
I don't wana wait that long but at least they'll have time to get it right.
Henry @ Jul 20th 2008 12:42PM
Yeah because Play.com know ahead of anyone else, even Nintendo probably.
Jeez.
Randy @ Jul 20th 2008 12:45PM
Just in time for Spring.
supa_s @ Jul 20th 2008 12:59PM
It's probably scheduled to be released in Q1 2009 in Europe. Retailers usually know ahead of the public. I wouldn't trust that date, but I'll expect it sometime in the 1st quarter of 09.

After E308, I've learned not to believe any piece of news that is related to Nintendo. I refuse to be letdown again.
Espiox @ Jul 20th 2008 2:22PM
Ha, no.
Keep in kind, Play.com has all kinds of random dates in there. Wii Music has had some 30 different dates since the Orchestra tech demo two years ago. Kirby on Wii is in there.
So, yeah. It's a placeholder. It means nothing other than they want you to preorder it.
Mr Khan @ Jul 20th 2008 6:35PM
I know nothing of Play.com's habits, but placeholders are usually the first or last day of a month, or, failing that, on the 15th
The 27th seems a bit specific
However, i doubt they would know, since even Shiggy wasn't allowed to talk about it yet
Espiox @ Jul 20th 2008 8:01PM
The 27th is the last Friday (standard UK release day) of the month and the quarter. Not all that random really.

Im not going to get this game I rather buy The Conduit.
It will probably sell more than Pikmin 3 anyway.
Zeph @ Jul 21st 2008 12:40AM
The Conduit is a hardcore, 3rd party, likely M rated, FPS, non-sequel.
Pikmin is something of a midcore, 1st party, E rated, non-FPS, sequel.
Take a look at the average Wii owner and tell me again The Conduit will sell better.

if that's the european date, then i can't wait to buy it here in the states next week!
gs942002 @ Jul 20th 2008 8:18PM

Did I miss something? Where was Pikmin 2?
flameofdoom666 @ Jul 21st 2008 10:19AM
Pikmin 2 came out for gamecube in 2004. Its sooooo much better then Pikman 1. Much more items, they got rid of the 30 day limit, and its a much bigger and prettier game. Also managhing pikmin is easier due to being able to use two characters at once. it is a fantastic game. One of gamecubes best.
HappyDuck @ Jul 30th 2008 10:23PM
i hope they have a co-op mode so u and a friend can play together. I also hope its not just some lame joke Paly is playing. (no pun intended)
bob @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:23PM
