Rumors: New Sonic game and Dead Rising for US

This fairly authentic-looking image of a Nintendo Power magazine cover, if real, means that the magazine has the scoop on yet another Wii game in the works starring Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic and the Black Knight apparently features Sonic fighting with a sword, which would fit with the teaser graphic the magazine put at the end of the last issue.

It also fits with Sega's recent use of new gameplay mechanics nobody wants, a change from their previous habit of creating new characters nobody wants. Although if Sonic and the Black Knight uses the Wii MotionPlus to render swordplay like Wii Sports Resort does, we're totally on board.

The English title at the top for the new Dead Rising game both is great and suggests that an American release of the remake is already planned. If, of course, this image is not a fake created by a jerk.

it looks pretty real, and the english nintendo magazine have got a 6 page blow out on dead rising next month, so it wouldn't surprise me if nintendo power has something on it. Hopefully its real, and hopefully the game will be interesting... the sonic one i mean, i'm sure dead rising will be fun.

Oh no u diddun't.

First how you know is crap (Other than the fact this is modern Sega at another attempt of creating a good platformer introducing concepts that might sound right in paper but will fail due a terrible execution or the fact Sonic is holding a sword)

Second they can’t do a Sonic game right, do you think they can make a Daytona U.S.A game properly? I love Daytona as well but let them get this one right.

Finally if they manage to create a good Sonic game with scores 8.0 and ahead then there is a chance for Daytona but otherwise I don’t think there should be a sequel yet. If Diablo 3 shows anything is that as epic as a sequel or a third part could be some games should just rest in peace.

I think he meant (or I hope he meant, because this wouldn't be a bad idea) that Sega could've created an original title having nothing at all to do with Sonic, with a new main character who fights with a sword if they really wanted to make this game.

"Sonic & The Black Knight" seems like an appropriate title since both the blue hedgehog and the original Black Knight (see: Monty Python and the Holy Grail) have had their limbs chopped off but don't seem willing to acknowledge what is painfully obvious to everyone else.

It might be good. I enjoyed Secret Rings. It wasn't as good as the old 16-Bit games. But for being a 3D Sonic game, it was enjoyable.

I really don't understand how someone can look at one picture and think they know whether the game will be enjoyable or not. Talk about "speaking about that which you do not know."

Ordinarily, that would be true. But this is the modern-day Sonic franchise we're talking about here. We have *lots* of experience telling us that the chances of a Sonic game attempting something new *and* actually ending up being good are extremely slim.

I still like Sonic games but Sega seems to keep forcing concepts into the game with out thinking how it could affect the gameplay.

For example Secret rings would've been a lot better with better controls or just using the Wiimote + Nunchuck combo instead of just the Wiimote.

Going by the title, my guess is that this is a Secret Rings straight up sequel.
If it's true, I think that's totally good news.

Well we are talking about a giant hedgehog with hands, legs, which wear gloves and can run very fast. Not to mention he can go Super Sayian with magical gems on the ass of a scientist with abso-f*cking-ly-diculous plans to conquer the world.

Why he couldn't have a sword? is not like the sword is the only thing that is going to make the whole concept sound ridiculous.

To be honest I could see my self playing a new Shadow the hedgehog if they cut the crap but Sega, if unleashed turns out to be totally awesome like GOTY awesome, should go ahead and make Sonic Adventure 3 (Guns of Robotnick)

I really really love that Nintendo Power is getting all these game exclusive reveals. It's up for debate whether this particular game is real or not, but they are going to be revealing something.

I hope Nintendo keeps this up. I wouldn't mind if they revealed all their big new titles this way.

I'm intrigued. Sonic with a sword could work, I think. Secret Rings was a decent first attempt; since this follows in the "Sonic and the ____" format, I can only assume this is some sort of spiritual sequel.

And if people really wonder why Sega keeps making Sonic games instead of creating a new IP, I think it might have to do with the fact that (despite the quality of some of his recent games) Sonic still sells.

Ya know, is kinda sad how Sega is trying to imitate Nintendo. I mean, give mario a tennis raquet, a baseball bat, a racing kart, even a table game and the game is good, give sonic a sword, werewolf powers, guns or a snowboard, and people just question how the thing will work out and if it will work out good

Nintendo somehow achieved on creating a character that can stick with almost anything you put him on his hands (just see the post of "It's a Mario World") and it sells while for Sonic, not so much working.

I played the first three sonic games that were made on the sega genesis, and they were awesome, since then, every sonic game I see... its, just not appealing to me
