Dead Rising to eat brains of Wii gamers

The adventures of photojournalist Frank West have taken him into one of the darkest, filthiest, most vile and disgusting cesspools of scum and villainy in human history -- the Xbox 360 (zzzzzing!). Now it appears he is branching out to the sunny shores of Nintendo, as Dead Rising for the Wii has been revealed in the latest Famitsu! Happy day for humans, bad day for zombies.
Dead Rising was Capcom's fresh foray into the survival horror genre, after spending years on the same Resident Evil formula. It was critically acclaimed and a blast to play, despite being criticized for awkward saving mechanics and time constraints. Based on the success of RE4: Wii Edition, Capcom went ahead and pulled Dead Rising up from the grave. And we're glad they did.
According to some brief translations, new content in the Wii port includes extra weapons, a brand new (undoubtedly psychotic) boss and motion-controlled attacks. The graphics will look as close as possible to the 360 version, and the gameplay purportedly takes into consideration the needs of casual players. Could this mean a more streamlined save system for ease of use? Possibly.

FINALLY!!! I'm keeping the Wii then. Nintendo, you are lucky Capcom has your back. Does this gem have a release date? And oh, how about we get a little discount price like RE4:WE? I'll get it either way, wouldn't mind a little cheaper though... thank you Capcom!
Taedirk @ Jul 16th 2008 8:53AM
Hells. Yeah.
tmntman @ Jul 16th 2008 9:04AM
Pardon me while I grab my camera, chainsaw and katana. I'm off to the mall!
Blue_Falcon @ Jul 16th 2008 9:16AM
At first I thought those were shots of the 360 version, but then I saw the Wii buttons/motions...they did a really good job with this.
But on the other hand, I already own the game. So I doubt I'll be buying it again.
mandarin @ Jul 16th 2008 9:32AM
The single game I really wanted to play on the Xbox360. Thx Capcom! If they keep up with such games Capcom games will soon outnumber Nintendo games in my Wii library :D
John Rios @ Jul 16th 2008 10:48AM
Aint that the truth! Capcom's really coming through this year! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm on Oni Island on Okami and it's getting intense...
Mike @ Jul 16th 2008 9:50AM
Awesome.
The Dom @ Jul 16th 2008 9:52AM
Mixed emotions for me. I'm a new 360 owner and this game was on my list to buy. Currently its $30 brand new on the 360 as its a plantinum game. So hopefully this game comes in at the $30 price same as RE4 did. If so, I'll buy this over the 360 version. But I'm not paying $20 extra for this.
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 16th 2008 12:46PM
Dude, Capcom port= $40 at the MOST. RE4 was $30, Okami was $40, etc.
samfish @ Jul 16th 2008 9:57AM
Now if they would just port Bayonetta, I would have NO reason to buy a PS360.
raptorspike @ Jul 16th 2008 10:58AM
Wow, the list of games I would actually buy a 360 for is dwindling. Now if they could bring NASCAR over....
Q-Kid-Kyle @ Jul 16th 2008 6:55PM
GO JEFF GORDON! sry. and yeah, I was going to sell my wii for a 360, with this being one of the games I wanted. Now, if only Orange Box and Unreal Tournament came over, and maybe crackdown.
raptorspike @ Jul 16th 2008 7:07PM
Q, first off, Go Smoke and Shrub.
Second, While I haven't considered the sale of my Wii, I have not purchased as many games as I would like. But there is so much shovelware and half-assed attempts, that it is frivolous. My list is down to NASCAR. NCAA football came out, but all reviews say the game is crap.
Kat @ Jul 16th 2008 11:34AM
Oh yeah! I have been wanting to have this game ever since it came out but it was imprisoned in the 360. Everyone told me that I may as well get the 360 because Ill never see this game on any other console.
Well, someone will have to eat their hat.
Sisyphus @ Jul 16th 2008 11:36AM
This game had me really interested, despite not owning a 360. Now I'm thrilled!
CJLopez @ Jul 16th 2008 11:46AM
So... we get another port huh.... thats...... WHO CARES!!!!!! ITS DEAD RISISNG!!!!!!
Man, Capcom just made that I scratch another reason to be buying a 360 in a near future!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, oh man, i so wanna jump of joy right now!!!!! but am at work and would be seen kinda weird......
MAAAAAAAAN, day 1 purchase, even if it comes with a $50 tag!!!!!, yes, that desesperated i'm for playing this game!!!!!!!!!!
I can see they are using the wiimote schemes they used on RE4. That's nice, nothing better than recycling code
Capcom, i'm starting tolove you even more now.
I wonder, if this where announced on Nintendo press conference yesterday, would it had had the same impact it had when M$ announced their version of FF13 was comming to their console????
I think it would
Alisha Karabinus @ Jul 16th 2008 1:41PM
Yeah, I for one don't mind ports when they are made of Dead Rising. I love, love, LOVE this game... even a scrap of new content gets my money.
JEV4 @ Jul 17th 2008 11:41PM
PRAISE JEBUS!
feba @ Jul 16th 2008 4:18PM
One of the very few 360 games I was interested in. Way to go Capcom! Now bring us RE5 (or at the very least, an RE5 side story) so we can have that sweet Wiimote pointing goodness in our zombie slaying fun.
But yeah, definitely going to buy this ASAP.
murray b @ Jul 16th 2008 1:07PM
awesome! I've been debating between getting a 360 or a ps3 when Resident Evil 5 comes out. I guess its PS3 for me now!!!
FYIan @ Jul 16th 2008 2:13PM
"...and the gameplay purportedly takes into consideration the needs of casual players."
False alarm! It's just a collection of mini-games. ;)
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Jul 16th 2008 2:25PM
Wouldn't put it past them.
Alisha Karabinus @ Jul 17th 2008 12:59AM
If it's all putting masks on the zombies and chainsawing-through-masses mini-games... well. I'd rent it, at least.
clif @ Jul 16th 2008 3:57PM
Best news all day! I just got down to this part of the blog but wow! Only if they port Ninja Gaiden 2 to the ps 3 I'll be happy.
Anyways I hope it comes out soon as in fall or winter 2008. I wonder if all the enemies will be intact. Meaning that was the big selling point of the 360 version. Since the system could display such a large number of enemies on the screen at once. Besides that if this game ends up being better the 360 version then I wonder if titles like ninja gaiden 2 could be ported. Ah I can't wait to see videos of this in action.
CubeGuy @ Jul 16th 2008 6:34PM
Unfortunately, with the lack of HD output, not a single line of text will be readable.
Q-Kid-Kyle @ Jul 16th 2008 6:57PM
YAY!!! NOw, we just need:
Crackdown
OrangeBox and another Portal
Unreal Tournament
Anything else?
Jeremy Gray @ Jul 17th 2008 12:22AM
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Otis yet. If they keep Otis in the game unchanged from the 360 version, there will be another rash of people throwing their Wiimotes through their tv screens. :D
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 17th 2008 11:41PM
Maybe acquiring Frank West's Mega Man costume's Mega Buster will allow Mega Man 9 to have it. /rampant speculation
