E308: A whole lotta list -- upcoming Wii games and release dates

Nintendo posted a list with a metric ton of games and release dates, including ones from third parties. You can check out the list for yourselves in our gallery below; you might be pleasantly surprised (or sorely disappointed).
One thing we noticed: The Conduit was nowhere to be found (perhaps because High Voltage has yet to reveal a publisher for the title). Goosebumps: HorrorLand seems like a strange edition to the Wii's lineup (since the book series was in its prime over a decade ago), and GameCock added Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball to the company's Wii repertoire. Other than that, we didn't notice too many surprises.
Is there any other software on the list that you think deserves an honorable mention?

I love my Wii, but that's a steaming pile right there...
Now Mad World, and Fatal Frame, that's something to look forward to.

I hear you, bro. I always try to stay positive, especially since the Wii is the only system I own and I can't afford another, and the fact that I've been a Nintendo fan for 22+ years, but that list looks like it belongs to a children's Leap Frog learning machine and not the latest Nintendo home console. With a few notable exceptions, ouch!

Yeah, double-ouch. There is so much shovelware there, I'm almost afraid.
Guess we'll have to depend on the Big N's first party games to pull us out!

Hay Rocketboy don't forget about the conduit, that game is going to rock. Specially Since Wii MotionPlus is coming out.
Wii forever. Power to the Players.

No Star Fox Wii makes me a saaaaad panda ... :C

Is it just me, or if you've played Animal Crossing to death before, this would be like playing the same game, except with a "city"?
Dan @ Jul 15th 2008 5:17PM
yep. just cements this very disappointing day. i don't have a problem with them trying to make money off of kids, girls, and seniors. but i want a straight up solid action game. it doesn't need to be brutally violent and the hero doesn't have to look like a teenage boy's insecure idea of machismo, but seriously, it's fun to explore a dangerous world and shoot at stuff. whatever happened to that?

I was a little let down with e3 for nintendo but 3rd parties are where it is and and where it has been for awhile
bully, no more heroes, zack and wiki, okami, the conduit, skate it, and now with the recent DS release there's this small glimmer of hope that we might see an exclusive GTA game......maybe
I lso stay positive about the Wii.......there is alot of crap but there's enough GREAT/EXCELLENT games on it that it is the system I favor.

I concur with the others...and I don't even know what games I was expect and hoping for. All I know is I see less than 5 games on the list that even raise an eyebrow.
It's unfortunate that the first-party games are the only winners on the Wii, shy of a few outliers. It's too bad this type of list squarely puts the Wii as a child's toy. I know Nintendo wants to be family friendly and fun and all, but with these type of games it really upsets the balance.
Unfortunately, my Wii has almost entirely become a Guitar Hero machine and that's it. I know they're promising DLC for games like GH, but until I see it working with my own two eyes, I'm not biting.
I guess it's good it seems price cuts are on the horizon for some other consoles...but tis too bad.

So, um, yeah. Good thing I still haven't gotten around to finishing Metroid Prime 3, or cracking open Super Mario Galaxy (yes, I'm that far behind in my game playing). At least for the remainder of the year, it looks like anything worth playing on the Wii has already been released.=P
As a Nintendo fan from 1985, it pains me to say it but for the first time in a long time, now that I'll soon have an HDTV, I'm a lot more excited about Sony's offerings than the Big N's. That being said, I'm sure Nintendo will be just fine with its new expanded audience.

No Zelda?! AHHH!!! Come on already! I want to hear what the next Zelda game is! I'm dyin'!
Havana @ Jul 15th 2008 6:49PM
Is this mass of shovelware the foretelling of the Wii's end?
james @ Jul 15th 2008 7:09PM
i'll take pirates vs ninjas dodgeball with 1:1 controls, heh
BrandonIT @ Jul 15th 2008 7:41PM
Is it just me or did LucasArts push back the release date for Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels? I thought it was coming out BEFORE "The Force Unleashed" and was set to coincide with the theater release of Star Wars: Clone Wars (August 15th).
Now, the release date says "HOLIDAY" which to me means sometime around November in time for the Christmas season.
Does this mean they could have taken it back to perfect it for use with the Wii MotionPlus add-on? If they did, it can only bode well I would hope for the gameplay.

Ya, Nintendo needs to step up their game with the more mature games or their going to loose a lot of players. I mean I kwn one and right now its hard for me to find a game that isn't too kiddy and thats more of an adult theme. If Nintendo came into the race sending out all these new mature rated titles that were still good games, they would be doing 2x better then how well their doing now.
