DS Daily: If silver, then no redesign?

This weekend's rumor of a Gloss Silver Lite releasing the U.S. this fall has put the tingle into our spider-sense. If we're getting another new color -- and we just got one, as well as Europe getting several -- does that clinch it? Will there be no redesign announcement this week at E3?

Of course, Nintendo may well announce a new DS model, and simply hold the release until next year, but it still seems like the thing that would put a damper on sales of a new color. Or does the (rumored) release of a new shade mean nothing at all?

it would be kind of a rip-off, if Nintendo is really to announce a redesign of the Nintendo DS. They can't release new colors, encourage the customers to buy the new colors and then introduce a DS redesign. imho this kind of "strategy" would totally upset most of the people. They just can't do that, lol.

Um, you remember when they denied the release of this rumored "Lite" DS altogether? And then did a 180 and released it anyways?

Yeah I do- happened 1 week (to the DAY) after I bought my phat.

Wouldn't be the first time, and it wouldn't be the last- its just business.

Hmm, this is another E3 theory. I don't remember which Nintendo rep stated this, but when the DS (Lite?) made it's debut, they said that the DS is it's own entity, and not a successor to the Game Boy. With that said, could it be looked into deeper that the new handheld is actually the next Game Boy? I wonder,...

If Nintendo is going to release new colours to their markets outside of Japan, then it's likely that there will not be any redesign. I doubt Nintendo will want to compete with themselves having two "new" DS on the market. However, that being said they have done something like this in the past. Remember the GameBoy Micro? That was out around the same time the DS came on the market.

So I believe there likely won't be a redesign, but thats also becoming doubtful because I remember reading something few months back that Nintendo had something exciting and big to announce at E3.

After doing an internet search, I'll extend my out of the box theory and say that the new Gameboy successor won't even be called Gameboy, but a more universal name that would be easy to market to all people....yeap~

Just a warning to everyone who wants to buy one of these, DON'T!
The silver is just paint, and it's not even on grey plastic, its white. The paint on mine got worn away after a few months, and I couldn't stand the sight of it, so I got a green one :P

And the styli are really hard to find. My touch screen got massacred because I couldn't find an official grey stylus, so I had to use one of the cheap, hard nibbed knockoffs. My DS hated TWEWY for that :(

I still don't see any need for a re-design, when the DS seems like it just starting to come into it's own. I just bloody bought a DS lite two years ago. I know technology moves fast, but come on, this is retarded. Just release games. Do something about all the lame movie tie-ins and Imagine games that take up all the shelf space in the shops. Just bloody translate a couple more games. Just don't tell everyone to go out and buy some new expensive thing and new, expensive games.
