Play-Asia's Summer Sale makes importing cheap ... well, cheaper
Our wallets sighed in relief after finding out about a Play-Asia sale, and then ran away screaming once they realized that we were now tempted to import the entire store. If you import games as well, now's an opportune time at the online retailer, and if you don't, there's no better time to start. Play-Asia is currently having its annual Summer Sale, which started today and ends on July 20th. This means that every in-stock item is 25% off -- beautiful.
Even after just one day of sales, many coveted items have already gone out of stock. There's still a lot to be had, though, so make sure not to put your importing off for too long.

Every? How come none of the in-stock DS Lites have the discount?
Jamar @ Jul 12th 2008 3:04AM
2nd try- how come the discount doesn't apply to DS Lites? I've been looking to get a new one.

I mean, it's not like anyone's forcing you to make play-asia give a cut of the profits.
It does happen to make a cheap game like Space Invaders Extreme even cheaper though.

I absolutely love how play-asia fools people into thinking they are getting a discount when they make up for this 'discount' in shipping costs. It costs me twice as much to import games from play-asia as it does from Japan! and HK is much closer to us than Japan

Not really. My shipping was only $2 and the savings was $12, so the savings ended up being $10 which I still consider to be a lot for an import game.

Can we get the Korg DS-10, or will that not work since it doesn't come out until after the discount ends?

How does this promotion work? Is it already taken out of the price or do we need to enter something in the promo code field?

How does this promotion work? Is the price ALREADY discounted or do we need to enter a promo code in during check out?
rikki @ Jul 12th 2008 10:50PM
The price is already discounted on items that are in stock and were released more than thirty days ago. You'll see a little octopus next to them on the product page.
Be careful; it's pretty rare, but sometimes "25% off" is actually more than P-A's usual price. Gradius Gaiden was cheaper before the sale started!
