'Leaked' Rock Band 2 setlist fails to convince us
At first glance, this purported footage of Rock Band 2's entire tracklist could easily pass as the real thing. Fooling the entire internet is a tricky business, however, and closer examination of its contents reveal some glaring inconsistencies. For one -- well, for three -- we found a trio of song names that had been misspelt. Also, what's with the difficulty markers, and the way they move about? Hmm. And again, for effect: Hmmmmm.
Still, if this is true, then it's one hell of a line-up; Comfortably Numb could seal the deal for us on its own (you can see the entire list after the break). But no, we're calling this fake, even if it is several shades of awesome -- what say you?

I hope this is not fake!
I always dreamed to play AC/DC!
If this is for real, I will regret all the spending on GH franchise.
ROMaster2 @ Jul 9th 2008 5:55PM
Wow, that's not very convincing.

I just fired an e-mail off to the boys of Barenaked Ladies... we'll see what's up.

Forsaken? Come on!
Not one of the best DT songs. Just one of the singles off of Systematic Chaos. Oh boy.
Then again, it is the most "digestable" track from them, from a public point of view.
I want Under a Glass Moon, damnit.

LOL @ Megadeath
The last tier of songs is just... not happening. Rock Band is known for its relative lack of difficulty when compared with Guitar Hero, and RB2 is not likely to change that. Plus, the whole list is a little too perfect.

Well looks pretty good but for every good song theres 10 crap songs. I still think guitar hero world tour is totally going to blow rock band out of the water. There for i shall save my money until sometime in october. (fingers crossed)

the typos seem like a huge "this is fake" but, the difficulty bubbles I can believe. With Rock Band, for 360 at least, when you go online to download new content it shows the same style of difficulty rating. There are a few songs on there i find a bit hard to believe but we'll see...e3 is pretty close.

The list is fake. Several songs which have been all-but-confirmed or straight-out-confirmed do not appear on it. The menu is slightly different than announced and shown in other previews. The song quality is noticeably poor on some but not all tracks.
Cian @ Jul 9th 2008 7:52PM
This is fake. IGN has confirmed a few songs and Panic Attack is the Dream Theater song in the game... Which would probably remove Forsaken...
That said I would love to see Comfortably Numb, Crazy Train, Head Like a Hole and some others on that list. Who knows, maybe some of it is indeed true. At least those three. >.>

One of the songs on there that makes me scream fake is "Head like a hole", Island Records sold the rights to "Pretty Hate Machine" a couple of years back to some completely forgettable label that re-released it. Now what makes it quite tough for it to be in there is that if they won't pay Trent to re-make the songs for a 5.1 uber release (like The Downward Spiral) What sodding chance do they have of going back and asking for it to be redone now? (Unless its one of the live editions)
If it's real, it's looking good, few questionable Emo bullshit choices on there, but everything else looks solid.
Plus Pantera?! If they brought back the one thing that's been missing since GH1, I will seriously jump for joy, (Also the lack of Megadeth love being rectified since GH2 would be a plus.)
metalhead13 @ Jul 12th 2008 2:44PM
this list has a lot of crappy songs, and a lot of very good songs. Chop Suey, Testify, Peace Sells, Fuel, and One step closer are my favs on this list. hope they get rid of a loy of the other songs though.
metalhead13 @ Jul 12th 2008 2:46PM
and Down with sickness

There MUST be more from Soungarden or Audioslave. Black Hole Sun was great on Rock Band, but with Chris Cornell, there's so much more 'rock' left untapped. Chris Cornell is still touring this stuff, too! Any of the newer songs from his solo records would fit in well. His voice screams rock. Spoonman is an obvious choice for Rock Band 2.
