Joystiq gets friendly with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
When it comes to multiplatform titles, the console versions usually snatch up all of the attention, leaving the DS titles out in the cold. With the big fancy features and graphics capabilities of the current-gen systems, many might have forgotten, or not known, that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is set to rock the DS as well as those other consoles we talked about. How does the game play? Well, you'll just have to head on over and find out!

I absolutely love 3D action games as much as the next guy, but I really wish companies would just stop trying to make them work on the DS. The stylus is a very clunky control mechanism compared to a stick, and worse yet the DS just doesn't have the graphical power to get the job done. At some point you have enough power to anything (just not as shiny) but the DS isn't there yet; it really needed to be a smidge more powerful than the N64 with Factor 5's microcode, instead it's barely as powerful as the base N64. There are just too few polygons to work with, even with the smaller resolution everything comes out mushy and lacking definition.
Make portable games that work with what the portable can do, don't just try to port console games and hope it works out in the end.

Personally, I just don't get how people make 3D action games that don't work. I mean, when I go back and play "Super Mario 64 DS" I am continually amazed. It seems the length and graphical quality is pretty much the best on the DS for that type of game. Nothing that I know of has come close. Why is that?
