Nintendo UK mag promises Animal Crossing deets
Animal Crossing is coming. This is a fact. What form it will take when it does arrive is a deeper mystery. Somebody at the UK edition of the Official Nintendo Magazine knows the answer to this, damn them, and they aren't afraid to shout about it.
The above image (art from Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS) appears on the "Coming Next Month" page in the latest issue of the mag, and was dutifully scanned and internetalized by a Go Nintendo reader for all of us to speculate about. "It's been a while," reads the accompanying caption, keeping us on tenterhooks. "It's time to revisit an old friend. How's your village doing these days?"
All of which is very exciting, but by the time the next edition of Official Nintendo Magazine appears (August 1st), we may have already heard more from E3. Either way, we'll know something about this game soon. Prepare your Golden Shovels, everybody!

!!!First post!!!!
Am I the only person that hopes animal crossing will have an offline mode? We will have all sorts of people running all over our towns, dropping garbage and asking "canz 1 h473 3ooooo b377$ PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!! LOL!!!".
SoshiKitai @ Jul 2nd 2008 6:35PM
You ain't the only one.
I am EXTREMELY weary if AC goes online.
Hughesmar @ Jul 2nd 2008 3:30PM
It'd be kind of neat if there were a way to import your existing town from AC or AC:WW into this newest version.
That being said, I'm not sure how I feel about it possibly being a MMO. Granted, this *is* Nintendo we're talking about here, so I'm sure it would be a gimped MMO. :-/
BDR @ Jul 2nd 2008 9:40PM
Hmm, that WOULD be cool, maybe they could do it similar to Fire Emblem how save data on your GameCube memory card affected in-game stats and items?
AIDSactivist @ Jul 2nd 2008 3:37PM
If it is an mmo, then will it have voice chat? A voice chat line would be cool (where you and anyone else who you put on your chat list could talk), but I agree with bob, there should be an offline mode otherwise the story will center around everyone else and what you are doing will seem useless and small. Oh, and the gameshark/Actionreplay people will screw up our towns along with trollers that will bring 90 pitfalls in to towns and just insult people.
James @ Jul 2nd 2008 4:12PM
I was under the impression that they were just going to go back to their towns and see what's up. Since they redesigned it would also be a good ploy to get the new readers into playing an older game?
Im sure they mentioned somewhere else in the issue that reinforces my point.
I so hope Im wrong :)

i actually want this to be just like the ds version, just a bit of updated stuff, maybe some dlc with bells, or maybe 4 playyer split screen

Mr Khan @ Jul 2nd 2008 5:20PM
I just hope it's not the big game
Although Animal Crossing is another game of forever, like Brawl and MKWii before it, so another of those would be nice
SImpression @ Jul 2nd 2008 5:24PM
Yay, I was hoping that Animal Crossing would be one of the games to be announced come E3. Here's hoping xD
stinkbug @ Jul 2nd 2008 5:43PM
I just want to be able to wash Gracie's car by moving my wiimote in a scrubbing action.
Oh, and I'd like a gym where we can go and use our balance boards. If I could workout next to Cupcake I'd be in heaven.

Not trying to be a hater here, but can anyone explain what the appeal of AC is? I tried playing the DS version, forcing myself to continue playing hoping it would get better...but it never did. Why is everyone so in love with this game?
SoshiKitai @ Jul 2nd 2008 6:39PM
The DS version isn't as classic as the GC version... in my opinion at least.
DS version feels too... dished out.
The whole appeal is like... ummm... an imaginary tea party. Or... playing house.
Like the Sims. Except not so much simulation, as it is building an entire town the way you wish, as well as making the perfect home.
For most people, it's really just the house. Just the house.
But the simplicity and charm disappeared in the DS version, GC all the way for me.
(However, in the DS version, the townsfolk are more interactive and less... AI. -though I tend to think the AI~feel was charming)
Mr Khan @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:17PM
It's like Sims + Sim City + Harvest Moon all in one package, and cuter than all three
Personally, it's not exactly my cup of tea either. It's fun to play, and will last you forever, but it's not something i'd want dominating my play schedule
J rod @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:19PM
I didn't like the DS version very much, but the GCN version was such a great game!
zeldazeppelin @ Jul 2nd 2008 11:23PM
yay I cant wait I love the original(DS version was ok)
this game can call home on my gaming shelf so I can play it
jamesFF @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:14AM
I love the original Animal Crossing, the DS version had none of the things I like from the original on the GC.
On the GC version you get: four houses for you and your friends, an island to visit (with a vacation home which you and your friends can hang out), retro games to play, and the ability to make multiple towns on different memory cards. You can not do any of these things on the DS.
Bob @ Jul 6th 2008 12:16AM
Well, considering most memory cards for gamecube are 20 dollars, getting a whole new ACWW would only be $30 (I've actually seen it on sale for 19.99, I might have even seen it for 14.99) It doesn't make that much difference.
Jeremy @ Jul 3rd 2008 11:05AM
whatever it is going to be...I can't wait...I have a feeling it's going to be the best AC yet!!!!!!!!!
TJF588 @ Jul 6th 2008 3:32AM
I WANT THAT HAT!
