C.O.R.E. is back to basics in the first trailer
We can't all be impressed by first-person shooters on the DS. C.O.R.E. is one of those games that fell smack-bang into Yawnsville after the first media was released. Now we have a trailer to explain a bit of the story and show off a good chunk of gameplay. Is it droolworthy? Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
In other words, no. As far as the story goes, a "special" research team is checking out a crashed UFO, and "special" troops are dispatched when the thing inevitably spawns some crazy critters. Nothing generic about that special story at all. The graphics seem okay (especially that hope-raising intro video), but the whole thing is a little jerky and the corridors might become too repetitive.
Still, waiting on a hands-on experience to judge its merit, because developing a smooth, fluid FPS for the DS is hard enough as it is before even thinking about decent design.

Hey this doesn't look bad. It is like a portable doom 3. Why the hell games like this are coming to the DS and no the wii?

You say it looks uninteresting but then complain about...story? This is a videogame, who gives a flying fuck about story? You want story, go watch a video.

It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look good.
The enemies seem very unanimated and simple. I'll just wait until I can actually play it.

I might drool over this if they could make it just a touch darker.
All the bright colors turn me off.

The jerkiness is a bit sickening (in a literal sense), and wow... It looks like pure distilled generic FPS. That's not a bad thing in itself if it plays well, but the environments look pretty forgettable and I swear most of them are stapled together from the boring bits of games like SS2, HL, Far Cry (the indoor bits), Doom...

I feel completely DOOMED to buy this! cause I'm a sucker for anything that even hints at things like 'space marines', giant alien bugs, pulse rifles, outerspace and planets not totally unlike our own!!!
