Nintendo delays Daigasso! Band Brothers bootlegging

In a likely accidental move similar to Square Enix's FFCC "Moogle of Death" screen, Nintendo has temporarily stalled pirates from completely enjoying Daigasso! Band Brothers DX. Not long after the rhythm game shipped out in Japan, crooked gamers around the world downloaded the ROM only to find that it didn't work as expected.

According to initial reports, because Band Brothers DX uses a 1mb save instead of traditional 512kb saves, the ROM refuses to load on many flashcarts. Of course, determined delinquents have already found a workaround, and some flashcarts will load the ROM successfully without any required hacking, but pirates are also finding themselves unable to access the 200 downloadable songs available through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Seeing as the game comes with only 30 tracks installed, the online songs are a huge draw for people playing Band Brothers DX! Though we expect hackers and flashcart manufacturers to fully "patch" the ROM in a few days, if not in a few hours, it's nice to hear that there are still a few things out there capable of temporarily flummoxing the DS piracy scene.

While it's great they are doing something about piracy, I don't appreciate that if I dumped it with Rudolph's Tool I couldn't play it.

Some of us don't want to carry around a CD-sized notebook filled with games, Nintendo.

dam, looks like there will be a new firmware for each flash cart coming out soon!

which flash cart currently can bypass this piracy block right now? im guessing cyclo ds but not sure..

I would guess the R4, it seems to handle new roms well.

And I don't think Nintendo is going to be doing firmware updates for the DS.

I've got the game, but I keep getting lost in the endless torrent of menus.
And I don't think this was really an antipiracy measure, it's probably for more room.

I may not be huge into piracy but it's ultimately in the case of quite a few games that have the appearance of being profitable not coming here that causes stuff to get swiped. Yes there are thieves, but had NOA decided to have its head surgically removed from its tail region and released the original and this they'd have sold some of those stolen copies and made a few bucks. I hate to say it, but in cases like this where stuff are in the category of an obvious fail, it's brought on by the corporations own stupidity.
