Guitar Hero goes On Tour with a complete track list
Guitar Hero: On Tour released this week, but those of you interested in buying it might want to know the full track list first (including an unlockable song). Yesterday we revealed the venues and songs for On Tour's sister game, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, so it's interesting to compare the two. Aside from one of the games being predominantly full of Aerosmith songs (we'll let you guess which), the style and essence of the two lists are very different. On Tour takes a much more poppy approach than Aerosmith and all the previous Guitar Heroes, as we've seen, but throws in some classics as well to appeal to the core audience.
We're not sure how we feel about some of the nausea-inducing tracks (read: Maroon 5 and kin), but we were able to stomach a few terrible tracks in Elite Beat Agents and enjoy it regardless. Now that the final track list is here (with a total of 26 songs), where do you stand on the game?
Tier 1 - Subway:
Tier 2 - Rooftop:
Tier 3 - Parade:
Tier 4 - Greek Arena:
Tier 5 - Battleship:
Bonus

The track list is decent, but I wouldn't say it compares to Rock Band or GH II or GH III.

I Am Not Your Gameboy. That's perfect. xD

I've always thought ZZ Top's "LaGrange" would make a good song for a music game. I don't think I'd buy the game just for that though.

And here I thought that ActiSHITon didn't care about Freezepop. Still not enough to get me to lift my Guitar Hero 3 induced activision boycott tho.
Well, back to Rock Band. Where all my DLC money goes...
LordFu @ Jun 24th 2008 3:31PM
Wow, wtf? Where's the metal??? Hair bands don't count, either. Maybe they should have called it Pop-Rock Hero, instead, since that's obviously what they were going for.
There are a few tracks that would be o.k., but I couldn't suffer through all of the garbage.

what a load of crap, you can tell they're saving any good songs for a real gh by giving this all the crap
Klerud @ Jun 24th 2008 4:13PM
Weak tracklist in my opinion... But then I have a rather "Un-GH-friendly" taste in music.
No, I think I'll stick to GH Roadie Edition http://dl.qj.net/Guitar-Hero:-Roadie-Edition-Nintendo-DS/pg/12/fid/17188/catid/221
The wonders of homebrew!

Why s everybody so down on this game?
I own it - and NO its not a full GH game but its a pretty good attempt at a portable one - this is a good game on a platform with a lot of garbage
the Guitar Grip takes some getting use to but not bad once you have found your groove
this isnt a bad game and the tracklist is very diverse and has some songs that i disapprove of but by all means i do not regret this buy - it has a pretty good multiplayer and steady single player....
c'mon guys give it a second chance

The only song on there that really strikes my interest is "Helicopter", and that's only because I love me some Bloc Party. Way to go, Activision... Your lack of taste has sealed your coffin in my heart.
TJF588 @ Jun 24th 2008 7:13PM
Needs moar Nightwish, with a pince of "Fire and Flames".
Srsly, though, this all seems rather pop-rocky (and I never really like "Rock and Roll All Night"). Who th'eck's Line 6?
iruka @ Jun 24th 2008 9:08PM
Interesting... Well I'm still buying whether I like the songs or not since I tend to be open to songs I haven't really heard yet.
ohhh cool that Black Magic Woman is included... oh and Pride and Joy too... With that, my brother might annoy me to let him play.
Ilpala @ Jun 24th 2008 9:29PM
Two things bother me about this game. One is that even with so few tracks, more than a few are lifted directly from guitar hero 3. The other is the fact that the peripheral is so small that the only way all four fingers fit over it is if they're pressed together.
nintendude11 @ Jun 25th 2008 8:34AM
Only 1 bonus song?? Meh, I think I''ll wait until Aerosmith comes out.
L.J. @ Jun 25th 2008 1:06PM
With only 26 songs, and some of them being awful, (I'm lookin at you No Doubt, Smash Mouth etc.) I think it's best for me to skip this one.

Weak song list, all around. They did too many re-releases into the main set list for songs from GH3 and such. While the game itself is good, as it's the first portable Guitar Hero, the songlist leaves a LOT to be desired. There's plenty of music out there, so there's no reason there should be redos on songs, no matter how miniscule the number. For a small set list, the numbers do count. 26 songs shown here, almost 20% are do-overs, with some of them covers nonetheless. Ask anyone on the street, let alone the internet, and they could come up with 5 songs for Guitar Hero that wouldn't ruin content planned for the upcoming and expected Guitar Hero 4. In my opinion, it was a lazy attempt at those songs. On another note, some of the song choices were nice, though I do agree that some of the picks were... 'trash' picks. The addition of another Ozzy song was a definite plus though, and Guitar Hero does need more RHCP.
A good game, but leaves a LOT to be desired on the song list, final comment.

that tracklist is perfect for a portable game that has to limit the quality of the tracks to fit on the puny game cards.
im surprised it wasnt like, 15 songs.
this game is a great game though, the list isnt that bad.
Curse! @ Aug 8th 2008 8:45AM
Hmm.. i think you're all forgetting that this is the sell out nintendo console, it has to be pop bull shit.. which in my opinion ruins what should be a good game :(
