VC Monday Madness video wrap-up 6/23/08
This week sees the Virtual Console receiving not one, but two games. Well, we've had enough time to play them and have produced the video you see above. Check it out then head on past the break for the rest.
Burning Fight (NEOGEO, 1 - 2 players, 900 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!
The only real issue I had with Burning Fight was its price. 9 bucks seems a bit too steep, if you ask me, but when the only comparable beat-em-ups on the system are priced just a dollar less (save for River City Ransom), I just couldn't give this one a thumbs down. If you enjoy the genre, check this one out.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: do not download
Candace be damned! Even if she's going to kill me for hating on one of her childhood distractions, I have to say that this game is one clumsy platformer. The controls aren't that great and the game can get monotonous, despite the variety in level structures that are reused throughout the title. I don't think this one held up that well over time.

I'm Totally getting Burning Fight! But not on the VC. I'm getting it next month when "SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1" comes out for the Wii. So for less than $30, I'll get Art of Fighting, Baseball Stars 2, Burning Fight, Fatal Fury, KOF94, Last resort, Magician Lord, Metal Slug, Neo Turf Masters, Samurai Shodown, Sengoku, Shock Troopers, Top Hunter, Super Sidekicks 3, World Heroes, and King of the Monsters. That's $1.87 a game. Why would anyone download this and take up even more space on the Wii's hard drive???

Alex Kidd hails from the day where video games were ridiculously tough (See Kid Icarus for more). The last few boards get insane. I think between my brother and I constantly playing it, we only beat the game once.
