gotta be Contra.
first?
peteL @ Jun 20th 2008 9:55AM
Contra DS is a tough game. Even on easy.
Justin @ Jun 20th 2008 9:45AM
New York Times DS.
nevsky42 @ Jun 20th 2008 9:46AM
Final Fantasy III. Still stuck on that last frickin' dungeon...
Allison @ Jun 20th 2008 9:52AM
Definitely Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja. That game kicked my butt within the first five minutes.
bluezy @ Jun 20th 2008 9:51AM
Need for Speed Carbon, since it was so frustrating to play.
BlackFreefall @ Jun 20th 2008 9:57AM
Final Fantasy Revenant Wings. Especially in the secret dungeons.
LordHumongous @ Jun 20th 2008 10:02AM
Brain Age - I AM MENTALLY CHALLENGED!
Phil @ Jun 20th 2008 10:05AM
Contra 4 on hard, sweet Jesus. And Contra 4 on Normal isn't exactly a cakewalk!
Final Fantasy III. So old-school.
And Advance Wars: Dual Strike, from the first two-screen battle onwards.
GeomancerSin @ Jun 20th 2008 10:05AM
Contra, easily.
acefondu @ Jun 20th 2008 10:10AM
Contra
Swampgirl Inez @ Jun 20th 2008 10:12AM
Apollo Justice. Because I really didn't like the game at first. I thought they changed too much from the Phoenix Wright series to make it enjoyable. But, I loved the series so much that I felt compelled to play every one of them and made myself play something that I didn't enjoy. Still not sure about it. :/
Ken Shammy @ Jun 20th 2008 10:13AM
... I cannot get past the first level on Contra 4 :/
On the easiest mode.
My god.
Trauma Centre can be pretty annoying, too. But nowhere near Contra.
ian @ Jun 20th 2008 10:27AM
Probably the original metal gear (NES). I was also, what, 12 at the time?
Clandaith @ Jun 20th 2008 10:14AM
Geometry Wars
GoBob @ Jun 20th 2008 10:15AM
Contra
sunmorgus @ Jun 20th 2008 10:17AM
Have to say Madden NFL 08, simply because I was so used to playing it on the Wii that it took a really long time to get used to the controls and the slower pace.
Neolink @ Jun 20th 2008 10:22AM
Contra for sure.
Jason @ Jun 20th 2008 10:22AM
Contra 4 and Electroplankton. I kidd, I kidd.
Yadneb @ Jun 20th 2008 10:23AM
Well I have not played too many difficult DS games but parts of Advanced Wars: DoR were difficult...
Brandisis @ Jun 20th 2008 10:23AM
I've only played a half dozen or so DS games but out of those, Metroid Hunters was probably the hardest. Believe me, the others weren't hard at all.
Dylan @ Jun 20th 2008 10:27AM
My vote's for Sprung. Remember that game? Having to navigate dialog trees, sometimes thirty or forty pages long, with only one "path" through the choices that lead to success? And you could pick the wrong line, which would make it impossible to win, but the game wouldn't tell you that until about five minutes later? Yeah, good times.
Either that, or Jam Sessions. It's about as hard to pick up as really learning to play acoustic, so for someone like me with no guitar skills, it was pretty tough.
Flip McSquible @ Jun 20th 2008 10:28AM
Contra.
Zach Toups @ Jun 20th 2008 10:30AM
lame but...pokemon mystery dungeon, I think...
flameofdoom666 @ Jun 20th 2008 10:31AM
It would have to be Final Fantasy III. I am still stuck in the last dungeon! I hope Final Fantasy IV will be easier.
Josh @ Jun 20th 2008 10:31AM
Contra and Trauma Center.
For the love of all that is holy, let me win this game!
TJF588 @ Jun 20th 2008 10:35AM
Well, my DS exposure is pretty limited, so of the, what, three games I've tried, it comes down between FFIII and MPH:FH. FFIII prolly wins out, though, since First Hunt was more a case of actualy handling the thing, whereas FFIII features dungeons that will either hand you your ass or just get in your way, with both setups leading to a boss that you'll hope to damage enough before having to use that last Phoenix Down. Damn you, Salamander and your cheap fire breath move! *shakes fist*
Prepare for a daily Copy+Paste of the above!
Halamar @ Jun 20th 2008 10:35AM
I know you guys are going to hear this over and over again probably, but it would have to be Contra. I've never beat the first one, probably never going to be able to be this one. I try at it for an hour, get a little bit farther each time, but its just futile...
jprev @ Jun 20th 2008 10:36AM
Sunday puzzles in NYT Crosswords are very hard. Rondo of Swords is pretty difficult as well.
rdaneel72 @ Jun 20th 2008 10:41AM
Hardest DS game for me was Trauma Center. Still haven't finished it. It stopped being fun.
But old-school RPGs are a different kind of hard. I played the original Wizardry on my Apple IIc forever. The labyrinth was littered with the corpses of my dead heros. The basement was littered with reams of graph paper maps. It never stopped being fun.
Commonc @ Jun 20th 2008 10:43AM
Contra 4 and Advaced Wars (all ofthem). Anyone else love turned based strategy games but suck really bad at them like I do?
coltcannon @ Jun 20th 2008 10:45AM
Any Ace Attorney, cant stay awake playing after work.
chivalry is dead @ Jun 20th 2008 10:44AM
I can't beat the last part of FFIII
joon @ Jun 20th 2008 10:48AM
there's no hard game on the ds, snes had harder games
ken @ Jun 30th 2008 10:36AM
Contra 4
Roman @ Jun 20th 2008 10:49AM
A few of the level in Revenant Winds really ticked me off.
andyscout @ Jun 20th 2008 10:54AM
Hardest DS game?
Well, the only games I currently own are Pokemon and Advance Wars DS, neither of which are particularly challenging, especially as a veteran of both series. Although, I must say that the Elite Four in D/P are much harder than in previous installments.
Professor Lario @ Jun 20th 2008 11:00AM
Contra 4.... on easy. !
Ryan G @ Jun 20th 2008 11:01AM
I'm having a hard time with some parts of The World Ends with You, but Picross DS has some brain-killing puzzles as well.
jfanny88 @ Jun 20th 2008 11:03AM
most of the ds games i've played haven't been especially challenging, but some missions in advanced wars: days of ruin were pretty tough
Daniel @ Jun 20th 2008 11:06AM
Definitely Rondo of Swords. Shiren the Wanderer is probably a close second. No room for error in either.
HappyFunBall @ Jun 20th 2008 11:12AM
Out of the handful of games I own, probably Advance Wars: DoR. Been looking to pick up Shiren the Wanderer, however...
trotskylite @ Jun 20th 2008 11:17AM
either elite beat agents on hard or the nintendo ds browser.
Kamran @ Jun 20th 2008 11:58AM
The first thing that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 3...old school hurting.
PyroJames @ Jun 20th 2008 11:21AM
I have to say the hardest game (for me) is New International Track & Field. I know some people just breeze through that game but this button-mashing, screen-scratching game is just too hard for me. I feel like I need an extra set of hands to play this game.
On the plus side, I can proudly say that I finished Contra 4... on normal difficulty. :)
tyetheczar @ Jun 20th 2008 11:25AM
Picross DS. The ones without hints can be just Sadistic.
Gabbi @ Jun 20th 2008 11:21AM
Etrian Odyssey, FF3, Rune Factory, and Rondo of Swords.
Jard @ Jun 20th 2008 11:26AM
Lunar: Dragon Song, just because it's so difficult to not give up from the game being so bad.
Kimiko @ Jun 20th 2008 11:26AM
Good thing I've already ordered my copy, as I'm not in the eligible region. Next time make it world-wide please.
Good luck to the N-Americans :)
wildweasel @ Jun 20th 2008 11:34AM
Maybe I suck, but I had trouble fighting through several of the early dungeons on Final Fantasy III. I also haven't made it past the 8th floor of Shiren the Wanderer, and I'm terrible at Cooking Mama (curse you, apple pie! CURSE YOU~!!).
