DS Daily: The Atlus Effect
Yesterday, however, Atlus announced that they intended to release Dungeon Maker in the U.S as Master of the Monster Lair. For whatever reason -- either our appreciation of Atlus, of games whose text we can read, or of Monster Lair, we found the news rad.
Atlus games are generally great. But until yesterday, Dungeon Maker wasn't an Atlus game! Are there any publishers for whom the act of publishing a game improves that game's standing in your mind?

I don't think they've published/developed a garbage game for the DS. Though, they do have a Pictochat rip-off in the pipeline.

Square-Enix if i see there name with a game then its gotta be good in my mind. I buy so many Rpgs assosiated with that company.

Same here. when they fusionHA'd into Square Enix, suddenly Valkyrie Profile was something to really look into (not that I hadn't heard about it). Heck, their DS remakes of the IV-VI DQs actually make me want to try that series out. And to think they used to be competitors... Maybe we'll hear about an Illusion of Gaia port/remake?

It might sound crazy, but I think Atlus is my fav publisher at the moment. They are doing a wonderful job supporting the hardcare segment and alot of their games remind me of my gaming glory days on the SNES! : )

Atlus it pretty much the only game company I can think of that makes me look forward to reading more about an unknown game.
Squeenix are good too of course, but they seem to rely much more on their old franchises, which we all know already. TWEWY is an example though.

For me it's Atlus USA without a doubt. Sure they have absolutely nothing to do with a game's development but their ability to pick out DS games of quality and potential is superior. I don't think I can get too much more of an Atlus fanboy having virtually no knowledge about yesterday's announced game yet I'm going to preorder it as soon as my online vendor of choice has it available.

That would be D3 (http://www.d3publisher.us/). Otherwise they seem to publish mostly licensed stuff though. Not really a publisher whose games I'd get excited about just seeing the name.

I adore Atlus. There are particular series which I am inclined to assume will always be worth picking up but Atlus is the only publisher with whom I follow this same pattern. The only publisher from whom I have bought more games from than Atlus is Nintendo, but that's going to switch around this summer.
I'm always pleasantly surprised by the positive reception of Atlus that I've noticed on-line. The only Atlus games any of my friends have heard of are the Trauma Center games.

Atlus has been great about picking up unique games for US audience. Anything published by Atlus is a must buy for me.

Atlus is pretty awesome, though their marketing of the new Izuna game is really getting on my nerves. Sending out an email titled "IZUNA'S MILKSHAKES" (yes, in all caps) that contains art of the character in a hot tub is not exactly how you create a mature image. Yuck.
