Rock Bandis an incredibly popular game. On systems other than the Wii. With the Wii port lacking many features the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game enjoy, many in the Wii camp feel cheated and neglected. Well, now is the time to have your voice heard. We've put up a poll past the break, so cruise on over and cast your vote!
I dont know how harmonix is going to short-change us like this and expect us to go out and buy it for full price guitar hero 4 looks like its gonna be a thousand times better on the wii anyway its just a waiting game for me
thats what im doing im not gonna spend what is it 150$ on a game thats possibly gonna be one-upped this christmas i'd rather save my money and get gh4.
It seems silly, especially with new versions of Rock Band and Guitar Hero coming out in a couple months. Go find a friend with an Xbox and play there. Go buy Boom Blox, Zack & Wiki and Blast Works with your money.
Maybe Harmonix won't screw it all up with Rock Band 2 on the Wii. Of course, they need to have sufficient Wii sales of the first title to justify porting a sequel over, so... everyone go buy Rock Band for Wii quick! I'll just, uh, stand back here and wait.
Classic catch 22. If everyone goes out to buy Rock Band on the Wii, despite it's lack of features, there's no incentive for them to add in the missing features the next time around since people bought it in large quantities even without them. Of course, if no one buys it this time around, they may not bother releasing the sequel for the Wii.
I just picked up a PS3, so if I get any version, it's going to be the one for that system on account of the availability of DLC. You hear that Nintendo? Fix your storage problem ASAP so your third party developers won't have any excuses for releasing gimped versions of the games on your system.
Lacking both an Xbox 360 and a PS3, and not wishing to spend over $500 for a single video game, I fear I may simply miss out on the Rock Band era of rhythm gaming. Luckily, a bar near my friend's house has a 360 equipped for Rock Band Thursdays, so I guess I'll just have to get my game on thereabouts.
Of course, strong sales of GH4 for the Wii could force RB2 into the Nintendo marketplace as well, unless they just want to concede victory to the Guitar Hero franchise... very unlikely, if you ask me.
I've had it on PS3 since it launched, the Wii version is handicapped and lame. They shouldn't have wasted the resources used in porting it. I find it interesting however that PS2 owners didn't pitch this big of a fit. You bought a Wii knowing it didn't do stuff that the 360 and PS3 did then you want a multi-platform game to be the same on all platforms. Gimme a break.
i think most people just want the DLC. ps2 is an old system, wii is next gen, it shouldnt be gimped. i know i dont want to have to buy all the DLC on a disc. id much rather just pick and choose what i want to download.
i have a ps2, so id rather just buy the game and drums off ebay, save some money and get basically the same game id get with the wii.
I honestly don't care about the DLC. Sure it sucks that it's not there, but that's hardly a surprise. What's keeping me from buying this is the lack of online support. Seriously, what the hell man? The Wii is clearly capable of online play, but instead they give us a port from a 7 year old system. I'd rather wait for GT:WT and support a developer that's actually putting in an effort - or at the very least, get a 360 and a real version of the game.
Got it on the 360, love it, great game. This version seems a bit gimped and for some unnecesary reasons, but it really is just extra features. What carries RockBand is the core gameplay, It'll be a shamed if Wii owners don't get to experience that because they can't make a character or whatever, and online isn't that big of a deal for this, Rockband is meant to be played with IRL friends.
Of course im picking this up even tho the lack of features plus the only songs i really would want to download will be on the game or on track pack one. except for hysteria and this ain't a scene, its an arms race.plus there is a chance it'll be on another track pack. but also the wii is my only console and i am not really excited about gh4. plus rb will be much better then gh4 on the wii especially the graphics.
I'm getting the game no matter what. I can't care less about DLC because I don't feel like wasting money. And the World Tour, big whoop, all those songs are on the game anyways. As long there's score keeping, I'm happy. I'll gladly pay full price for the game. That way, when RB2 comes out, I have all the instruments I need anyways. I don't know why people freak out about this. If you want all of the features, trade in the Wii and get yourself a 360/PS3.
I prefer the idea of buying Expansion Disc over DLC personally. That way if something were bad to happen to my Wii I still have all the songs I've purchased on top of that it's actually cheaper then what Xbox Live is offering for the DLC.
Yeah, I've also preordered that one. Things are going to get a bit crowded in the den in the next few weeks what with all the new plastic fake instruments.
I would buy it on the Wii if it was priced less than the other systems because I love the white color scheme. But I just can't bring myself to pay the same price for something I could get with many more features on my XBox 360.
I plan on buying it. But since I already have GHIII plus an extra Nyko Frontman, I may wait a day or two in the hopes that somehow the guitars will turn out to be compatible and I can save some cash by buying the game and drums only. (Yes I know, it's a huge long shot.)
As for the features lists, yes they suck. But a couple of things should be considered to keep things in perspective compared to Guitar Hero: Yes there is no true downloadable content via the internet. But Harmonix still managed to out due Red Octane by offering Track Packs on disc instead. It may only be a half step in the right direction, but it is better than GHIII. The reduced online options/character creation sucks and really didn't need to happen. But neither of those would be enough to reduce my enjoyment of the game.
I had the PS2 version before I got a PS3, and have since upgraded to the PS3 version, so I can compare them. If you don't have a PS3 or 360, the Wii version (given that it's comparable to the PS2 version) is definitely worth it. The core gameplay is there and it's awesome. Also, don't forget that Harmonix is releasing downloadable songs on disc for the PS2 and Wii versions, so you're not totally missing out on extra songs.
Plus, with the Wii version you don't have to worry about switching characters and stuff around when you have a bunch of people playing at a party (which is the only time I really play, personally). Honestly, the character creation stuff is neat but it does get in the way sometimes.
the ps2 version is $99 on amazon right now which, in my opinion, makes the wii version stillborn. plus, the instruments work with the ps3 and my old GH guitars are compatible. so, after i sell the RB (crap) guitar on ebay the whole thing will cost me $60-70. yea, NOT getting the wii version.
I want to buy it but I can get the gimped PS2 version for $50 less at Gamestop oh and it is new. If the Wii version were $50 less I wouldn't be on this blog right now. My guess is that the price will be reduced prior to the release of GH Would Tour.

You need to add an option to the poll...
I already own it on a different console...I would die w/o downloadable content, some of my favorite songs on the game were downloads.
Shugotheripper @ Jun 18th 2008 11:15PM
Thats just sad
Rocketboy @ Jun 19th 2008 9:51AM
Or the the option to pick that you're too busy rocking out with Guitar Hero to bother with Rock Band...

You then have a Real Console, so its a Win Win Really.
Ryan B @ Jun 19th 2008 3:03AM
What are you doing with a Wii in the first place if you wanted a "real" console.

I probably would've grabbed the Wii version if it was out in March. As it is, I'm one of the 15 people who bought the PS2 version.

Anyone who buys Rock Band on Wii, fully knowing what Guitar Hero World Tour has in store is simply making a completely stupid decision.
