Brawl Stage of the Week: Shy Guy

Any Nintendo fan worth his or her salt should recognize this character. Love him or hate him, we've been seeing Shy Guy make many Mario-related appearances ever since Super Mario Bros. 2. Ironically, he started out as a non-Mario character in Doki Doki Panic, but the conversion of the game in the West was enough to solidify his place as a popular enemy (or sports player) in many a Mario title.
But, that's enough Shy Guy history for now. Check past the break to download this stage by TheDarkPlumber2.0.

As you may have noticed from the picture, this stage offers a lot more in terms of design than it does for brawling. Usually, we try to pick a stage that balances out the two, but this one was too cool to resist. If you download Shy Guy, don't expect a life-altering Brawl experience. This level is still worth trying out, though, because the design is that good. Hit up the walkthrough below to get a better idea of what this stage has to offer.

Looks good!

*sigh* I give up.
Amazing stage! My friends and I love to boot up the Wii every weekend to play novelty Super Smash Bros maps! Fairness and playability be damned, I can't wait to play this on Saturday night! This is going to be even better than the map that spelled out "PS3" in ice blocks, or the Gamecube made out of spikes and springs! Woo-hoo!

Instead of complaining, why not try last week's very playable map (The Colosseum)? There's no harm in changing things up once in a while, or giving kudos to stage design. The feature is called "stage of the week" not "most playable stage of the week." Besides, some people (like me) might enjoy the novelty of playing on a stage like this.

That's right, and if your're comfortable enough with Smash Bros, pretty much any stage is playable. Sure, it's not a perfect tournament-style stage like Final Destination or Smashville, but it's interesting, and it looks like fun.

I'm sorry for being so harsh on the Stage of the Week. It's just that... I was hoping for so much more out of the game, like decent online play or downloadable content (not their spikey/icey/springy map of the day) and since Nintendo didn't provide it, I was hoping the community would.
I apologize for being overly critical. The game fell just a little bit short of perfect, but it was so close that every little shortcoming feels larger than it is.
That, and Lost withdrawals.

I can't believe I'm featured! I found this site by accident, so I am honored that I'm a brawl stage of the week. I understand the reluctance of accepting a stage that doesn't play well (but looks amazing). I make many of both stages.
