Mega Man 9?
We'd have a hard time thinking of a more exciting title to see listed in a ratings board database than Mega Man 9. There hasn't been a new game in the real Mega Man series since 1999's Rockman & Forte: Challenger to the Future on the WonderSwan -- which we never got (its prequel, Megaman & Bass, was released on the Game Boy Advance in the U.S in 2003). There hasn't been a numbered Mega Man game starring the iconic Astro Boy ripoff since 1997's Mega Man 8. The spinoffs are okay, but they're not Mega Man.Suffice it to say, then, that this Mega Man 9 (which is listed as "multiplatform," though that's the OFLC's catchall) is probably awesomely huge news. Unless it's a port of Megaman & Bass, in which case it's ... still pretty neat.

i'm really curious as to what a modern day mega man would look like.....do they stick with side scrollin 2d or go Mario 64 with it? ha! it's probably just a new DS title anyway.

They already did a Mario 64 treatment, it's called MegaMan 64, that Playstation port

My guess is that this article should be over on DS fanboy, if anywhere, that's where Megaman should go. Most exposure and most appropriate for those series that remain 2D anyway

I'd actually be happier with the game being on DS, but who knows?

WHAT THE F***!!!!!
And here I though that rockman and forte was Megaman 9, now I'm getting to know there was a sequel to this game, and that we will be recieving megaman 9.
And just recently, there was a news on MTV Multiplayer wich commented how did Capcom knew when to bring back a franchise, jajajajajaja
Man, hope this megaman clears a little about the cataclism and Rockmans death
Looking forward to this, i'm a huge megaman fan, except for the BN series and ZX series, didn't like em, like they forgot how to properly milk the cow or something

In the back of my mind I also envisioned a Mega Man 9 closing the MM storyline such that Mega Man X would be chronologically next.
And that it would be as it "Mega Man 10" was "Mega Man X", just in Roman Numeral form. Kinda dumb, I know, but 10 years ago it seemed as clear as day and made perfect sense to me.

unnecessary disclaimer - pardon my horrible grammar above; "always", not "also"; "if", not "it". now i feel better. =]

This always made sense to me too.
It makes perfect sense if Mega Man X is the tenth game, and I really hope they take this opportunity to close off the bridge between them.

It would be a mind-bogglingly massive mistake if it really is only PS360, given how Mega Man sells on Nintendo consoles compared to the competition.
Patius @ Jun 15th 2008 2:21AM
if it is Nine, this is huge.
I legitamately hope it is.
And maybe they will revive Legends too?

This is the biggest news in gaming to me in a long ass time,
Let's just hope that Capcom doesn't screw it up by putting it on the PS3 or 360.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the milking the original Megaman series since there was never closure for the little blue guy. They might have to reveal what happens to all the original characters prior to the beginning of Megaman X.
Megaman 9 needs to go deeper in the story of DUO because Mega's ending might possibly be linked to his since Duo is from another planet.
I may sound a little crazy, but I think if this is Megaman's last original game, the story might end with Dr. Light sending Mega to Duo's home planet VIA spaceship to help him out thus explaining Mega's departure and reason why he never appeared in the X series.
Also, I think it is a little rude to have him get killed off by Zero. Megaman moving to Duo's home planet to fight for intergalactic peace and never returning to Earth sounds like a more legendary ending for the Blue Bomber.

I think he's going to run from left to right and shoot at bad robots. But that's just speculation!!!

*cough* okay lets see.. yay, something ill like on the wii, and second off all megaman games other than the original, and X (which i cant find too much of a difference in until the fourth game/ but thats not a bad thing.) sucked. i was sad when i first saw all this "battle network" and blah blah blah
it wasnt the real megaman, and ive missed it since, but now im happy again =D yay
