More FFIV media than you can summon a stick at
It's okay if you weren't that into Final Fantasy III. As Final Fantasy games go, it's down near the bottom of the list for many people, and even though grinding-on-the-go can be easier than doing the same in your living room, FFIII required a lot of effort. Final Fantasy IV, however, should totally be pinging your radar in a big way. It's got it all: drama, tension, great characters, epic battles, and it was the first of the triumvirate of awesome (FFIV, FFV, FFVI) that really put the franchise on the map, and next month's remake looks to be doing the classic ultimate justice. The payoff is so much bigger, and in this version, it's beautiful, too. Not convinced? Not only do we have more than forty brand new, English-language images for you in our gallery, we've got new videos hidden away after the break as well. So mount up, get comfortable, and start watching. Next month is going to be a fabulous time for RPG fans.

Was I the only one who really enjoyed FFIII DS? I thought it was great!
I've already finished FFIV on the PS1 and GBA but it's one of my favourite RPG's so I'm definitely getting this new DS version.
The english voices are a lot better than I expected and the whole thing just looks excellent. That cutscene of the bomb ring destroying the village was really well done.

Hey, I love FFIII! But I think we're in the smaller group on that one.

I really enjoyed FF III DS too. It was the first FF game I ever played and I had a great time with it. I liked it so much I immediately bought the GBA version of FF IV and played that and realized why people dissed FF III. FF IV is a better game with a better story, imo. OK, fast-forward a year. Last month I was out of new games to play and waiting on FFTA2 so I decided to pick up FF III and play it again, until I got bored. Only I never got bored and finished it a second time.
I'll probably recommend FF IV DS over III, but I can't knock a game that gave me around 100 hours of entertainment. FF III is a fun game and it's definitely worth the $19.99 price (used I think) I saw at Gamecrazy the other day.

Final Fantasy III was great... but IV is my favorite Final Fantasy game, even over VI. Can't wait for this.

I loved FFIII too. I never really found myself grinding, just some bosses took a few tries.

Well, hell, let's all get out of here and go have a FFIII lovefest instead!

I was going to say something along the lines of "if I sell my copy of FFIII it'll make the price of FFIV easier to eat" but that comes across as a little too jaded in comparison to everyone else.
In all honesty, I enjoyed FFIII until I got sidetracked with work and the waiting/anticipation/annoyance/excitement/insomnia/overdose of SSBB. That occurred basically about when it seemed the full FFIII world was open to me. So, now I'm lost and trying to decide if I should pick it up and finish it off, or not. hmmm...

Uh, that was supposed to be:
"waiting, anticipation, annoyance, excitement, insomnia, overdose of SSBB". note to self, use more commas... =]

SNES Final Fantasy games didn't really put FF on the map. Sure, IV and VI were arguably the best, but it was VII that made the series mainstream.
TJF588 @ Jun 14th 2008 12:55AM
IV V VI are still THE FFs above all others. They're what's made FF (IV's the classic, V's the system, and VI's the ambition).
JEEBUSJEEBUSJEEBUSJEEBUSJEEBUS (and that wasn't copy+pasting), I want this. Rydia's voice is great, Kain's/Cain's is growing on me, and Cecil's "WHY!?" was well done. Then I look at all those screenshots, and... This is solid. Pure FF.
Oh, I needs a DS.
Thomas @ Jun 15th 2008 9:40AM
Well, apparently, FF IV DS is even more challenging than FF III DS : some friend of mine played the japanese version, has been thrown away by the impossible difficulty, and had to level-grind all the way to level 90 to stand a chance against the final boss... I really do hope they have knocked the difficulty down a bit for the US and/or European release...
Martin @ Jun 16th 2008 10:53AM
Hell no, Thomas! That's what they did for the game when it was released as Final Fantasy II in the US. I want this game to be pure, unadulterated fun!
To the moon!
Thomas @ Jun 16th 2008 11:27AM
Martin : hell no ; if it's too hard, nobody will buy it, and then Square-Enix won't release the V and VI...
