Rumor: Circuit City restocking Wii, Wii Fit

We did our own fact-checking, calling up the local Circuit City in our own town, as well as checked their site online. Online, we had no luck, but the young lady that answered the phone at our local Circuit City store said that they did indeed have consoles in stock, but they were holding them until Sunday. Then, they plan to hand out vouchers and sell the consoles like it was launch day. When asked about Wii Fit, she assumed the store would do the same thing, but had no official word to give.
So, for those of you still in the market for either a console or Wii Fit, we'd suggest calling up your local retailers (it might be other retailers than just Circuit City) to see what the deal is. Because this isn't something confirmed by corporate (or a Sunday circular scan), we're going to keep it in the rumor pile.

This is rather common place for big box stores. I work in the Altoona, PA Best Buy and this past Sunday we had a mess load of Wiis and Wii Fit. We seem to get more every 2 weeks (rough estimate), but not always for an ad hold. Those times are for when we get several boxes full.
Everyday we get about 20 calls asking if we have Wiis in. One lady snapped on Sunday because we sold of of the Fits, and was insistant she get one discounted to her because we advertised them and didn't have any hours later. AAhhhh, retail....

One more thing to add, watch the companies web sites Saturday evening. Wii still sells like crazy and always makes it to the first page in the main ad self scroll box. If you get the Sunday paper early enough you'll see it typically on the front page of that ad as well.

Avoli said it all. This is very common practice at best buy and other stores, and is in no way whatsoever news or a new interesting rumor. We hold stock of Wii's for the sunday ad's all the time. So when you walk into best buy and I tell you to check the ad saturday night, it's cause I'm a nice guy and will get fired if I directly say "They're coming sunday." But if I say "Check the ads, but none this week" I'm not lieing. I have one, so why would I try to stop you from getting yours. Unless your a jerk (Actual Conversation: "How are you doing today, sir?" "Oh, well. I was doing great, till I found out you don't have any wii's in. Maybe circuit city wants my business." "At 7 pm on a wenseday evening, sir? Good luck." I said that while we had wii's at the front registers and I had tickets for them in my hand.)
So if you're to big of a jerk to take the hint, as so many are, then if you do accidently show up on sunday morning, I'm not giving you a ticket.
But if you want a wii in no more then 2 weeks, with minimum effort, you lazy bum, check the ad's for your local circuit city and best buy saturday night, and you'll have a wii within weeks. I promise you that.
Wii fit on the other hand? We've gotten 3 shipments. Ever. Release. Last Sunday. And a random batch on Tuesday.

Well, while we're having a Central PA party here, I'll chime in to say that we've got a whole lot of nothing at the State College Target, though apparently the 22nd will be the next Wii day. No word on Wii Fit, though, and people are, well, less than happy about that.
On another retail note, has anyone else ever been called "The Devil" for not having Wii consoles in stock? It's quite an honor.

This week's Circuit City as says minimum 10 Wii Fit per store. Good luck! And if you're in Brooklyn, save one for me.

I work at CC, and yeah, it's common practice that we ALWAYS hold Wii's until the following Sunday. And yeah, they're always in the Sunday ad when they're going to be available. And yes, we generally have a good idea when we'll get more in, but no, we can not tell you when. You see a Wii in the ad? Get there early Sunday morning if you want one. Want a Wii Fit? They're in the ad, too. We've had two shipments so far...about 20 for release day, and nine in our last receipt. That's it. But do check online. We sporadically have them available online for an hour or two every once in a while before they sell out as well.
