The Conduit really connects with the Wii
Expressing interest for The Conduit is good for the Wii. Why, it's even good for gaming in general. The latest press release from High Voltage Software describes the vision for this unique shooter, and CCO Eric Nofsinger is going right against the grain, saying "Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics."
That statement gets our hopes up for the exact opposite of everyone's favorite Wii word -- shovelware. The Conduit looks to be entirely original and crafted with the utmost care, as evidenced by the gorgeous trailer, drooled over by many. Nofsinger wants to avoid the casual stigma entirely, "by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced."
Best of all, the release window has been confirmed for Q1 2009. That's less than one year, which is practically heaven considering some developers often jump the gun and leave us hanging with their tantalizing announcements.

Really looking forward to it. I don't think the graphics are as good as High Voltage thinks they are, but they are pretty good nonetheless.
A Half Life-esque sci-fi FPS built from the ground up for the Wii is a dream come true, lets hope they completely copy Metroid Primes controls too.

I don't think they think the graphics are as good as you think they think they are.. thats called marketing.
Now, read that sentence 3 times and do 10 handstands and you've got your exercise for today.

I must say, I have high hopes for this one...but I'm not really holding my breath...
So far as I'm concerned, as long as the game has good gameplay (e.g. controls), good multiplayer and a captivating story, I'm sold. If the graphics look as good as Metroid Prime 3 does, then I'll be plenty happy. So long as the game feels and plays right, I'm willing to take a hit in the graphics department.

Yay, this game looks good and I want it :)
Not to cheapen the moment but if Valve decided to release Half Life 2 on the Wii, I would be very happy; they managed it quite well on the original Xbox.

I think Mr. Nofsinger hit the nail on the head. From the first time I had a Wiimote in my hands, I was smitten with the promise of what Wii could do. So far, there have been few games that fulfill that promise and the full potential of the Wii .Let's hope that High Voltage can deliver!

Give this man a million-billion internets, a pat on the back and crisp $100 bill, he has got the right idea as far as I'm concerned. I really hope the game kicks arse and gives a few other developers the hint that they can actually spend more than 5c on making a Wii game and come up with something pretty special. After all, it apparently takes tens of millions of dollars to turn out anything noteworthy on the other consoles.
Right on, Nofsinger (Nosferatu?), keep on rockin' the Wii love!

This looks gorgeous. But is it just another generic FPS?
Then again, even a refined but generic FPS with the Wii-mote would be something amazing!
Chadyasotora @ Jun 11th 2008 2:02PM
If it was on the 360/PS3 then it would be another generic FPS...but seeming as the Wii doesn't have many FPSs, it can't be generic! Woohoo!

This game looks pretty good. Glad to see a FPS (or anygame for that matter) done right for Wii. I know Matt Casamassina has been raving about this game for a while now.
I probably won't be picking up the title, but I hope it does extremely well in sales and reviews. We need a game like this to do well to show other 3rd party developers that they need to do better with many of their games.

i like how 360 fanboys are calling this a halo ripoff when halo is a metroid ripoff
Metayoshi @ Jun 11th 2008 3:50PM
Have you even played Metroid and Halo? Completely different games.

It doesn't appear generic to me. Semi-scifi, political intrigue, interesting weaponry (watch the trailer), and a real gameplay hook (the all-seeing eye).
MoHH2 was generic. This isn't. We'll still have to wait and see how well it's executed. After the haze disappointment, it appears even a great developer can make a wrong turn.

The first time I saw the trailer for this game, its graphics blew my mind. I've been excited for this game since then.
Hopefully, they make controls for this game top-notch, and as long as the gameplay is fun, I'll be picking this up to support those third party developers who actually try.
I'm surprised this game has a release date (sort of). Last time I heard, High Voltage was having tough luck finding a publisher for this game since most believe "hardcore" games fail (to sell) on the Wii. Did they find a publisher?
