Apparently, Capcom is bored of making money
That's right: we've finally turned to lolgoats. We hope you appreciate this new direction.
Anyway, any meager hopes we might have harbored for a western localization of Resident Evil Zero have just had the last gasps of air stamped emphatically from their shriveled lungs by Capcom's Christian Svensson. Writing on the company's message boards, Svensson stated that Capcom's U.S. arm had been "asked twice if we've wanted to bring it Westward and twice we've declined." Ouch, Christian. He did concede that "nothing is ever final," but surely Zero would have to tear up the Japanese sales charts to stand a chance of being localized.
Although we're not exactly devastated by the news -- the GameCube edition is cheaply and widely available on eBay, and is pretty much the same game, sans Wiimote controls -- we are surprised. Didn't the Wii port of Resident Evil 4 rake in an obscene fortune for Capcom? Why, yes it did.

I think what we should care more about is why they arent making a RE:5 port for wii. Capcom has controls that work well, the fanbase is obviously there (as shown by RE:4 sales).
I would gladly pick this up over 360 even with dumbed down graphics just for the controls.

Probably some weird deal form Microsoft and Sony was done with Capcom to not release games on the Wii.
Sony and Microsoft knows they can't win alone, so they team up together to take down the Wii from all the good games.
Good_Bytes @ Jun 9th 2008 4:12PM
What Capcom fails to see, is yes probably that Microsoft and Sony is given to Capcom is a tiny bit more they would expect to get from the Wii sells, however is that they don't attract new games (casual gamers that discovered gaming, and starting to game for real, and lose gamers like us that see quality and future in a product. So after several years later, Capcom will release a good game, and no one will give a dam as very little will know Capcom game quality. A bit like EA, they used to make great games, since 10-15 years about they were doing wearied stuff like these and mass produce vaporware and now the only game that some people are somewhat intrested is COmmand&Conquer and Red Alert. Now EA is a really big company with too much money now, but it die soon. Look at their sport games that show lack of ideas more and more on each version (so that will be gone soon), NFS fanatics that buy every game in the hope to find the quality of the overall game match the original NFS games (that will disappear soon), and that is about it.

@Good_Bytes
Hate to burst your conspiracy bubble, but no secret deal was made.
Just look at Monster Hunter 3 (tri-) which was originally in development as a PS3 game until it was announced several months ago that Nintendo and Capcom had signed a deal to make it a Wii exclusive instead.
Sonic_13 @ Jun 9th 2008 2:12PM
If Capcom really wanted to make a ton of money, they would bring Resident Evil 5 to Wii.
I would buy it in an instant and seeing as I don't own any other consoles (nor do I want to own any others) its either RE5 on Wii or no RE5 at all.
ThekonamiMan @ Jun 9th 2008 2:13PM
The problem is the casual gamers love the RE4 gameplay but not the classic Resident Evil gameplay that is present in RE0. It's a smart move not to waste the money to release another worthless Wii port in the US. Wii controls do not improve every game and definitely don't make a game like RE0 worth it when you can already play it on your Wii since it's a GCN game.
Sonic_13 @ Jun 9th 2008 2:19PM
I have serious doubts that casual gamers are into Resident Evil 4...
Co @ Jun 9th 2008 2:28PM
They are currently exhausting all efforts to get RE5 on Wii, they do not have time for this. RWii 5 will be announced at e3.
seetrapp @ Jun 9th 2008 2:41PM
What makes you think that?
Sonic_13 @ Jun 9th 2008 2:46PM
Yes, what makes you think that?
Please explain more!
J rod @ Jun 9th 2008 3:01PM
It looks like someone had a pretty special epiphany.
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Jun 9th 2008 3:18PM
Hahahaha, yeah....
seetrapp @ Jun 9th 2008 4:16PM
Actually, it does seem possible. I recall hearing somewhere that someone involved with RE5 said that the game was playable 2 years ago.
It's hard to think about RE5 with the exciting prospect of SPYBORGS! [/end sarcasm]
hellhammer @ Jun 9th 2008 3:16PM
After all the money I've spent on Capcom games, since NES, I've been really disappointed in Capcom's agenda. Release one or two good games for Wii, to make millions, then spend that same money on making new games for every platform except Wii. We could start a list.
RE 0
RE 5
Street Fighter 4
What can't I have next Capcom?
You going to release another PSP MegaMan exclusive?...Probably.
CJLopez @ Jun 10th 2008 2:48AM
Ya know, I think Capcom is copying the way Ubisoft been working lately
trE @ Jun 9th 2008 5:13PM
Capcom is all about making money so RE5 will make it to either the Wii or the PC and I will play it then. It is just like RE4 and the playstation. The gamecube was the better system, the PS2 version had to be watered down but they still released it on the lower end system.
TheFreak @ Jun 9th 2008 5:19PM
You can bet that if a Wii version of Resident Evil 5 is ever made, the Xbox 360 and PS3 fans will complain about the visuals in the same way the GC fans complained about the PS2 version of RE4. "Forget all the neat extras, THERE ARE POLYGONS MISSING!! Oh wait, it's on Wii now. Never mind."
Kenology @ Jun 9th 2008 5:51PM
I think it was the right decision for Capcom USA to decline bringing the RE0 port over to our shores. Granted, RE4 was a port, but it was reworked to make use of the Wiimote in a great way. I don't know that they can do anything quite as intuitive for an old-school tank RE. Not to mention, RE4 was only two years old when it dropped on Wii, RE0 is pushing 5 and a half. I think it should be left alone. No more Gamecube ports, please.
CJLopez @ Jun 10th 2008 2:51AM
I'd rather get the game for the cube than a port, yeah, wii controls would be pretty neat, but, why spend more money on something that really won't bring much new content to the game than what already has
I don't mind for RE0, maybe for RE5, but thats a reason why I get myself a PS3 recently, still loving my Wii, I could never stop loving my wii, not even the mamarian physics of soul calibur.... well, maybe they can..... xDDDDD
DMX @ Jun 11th 2008 7:41AM
I agree that capcom is passing up a huge money making opportunity by ignoring RE5:Wii.
Howerver, let's not miss the important thing here -- that picture is HILARIOUS! :-)
