DS Daily: Alone, or not alone?
That is the question. We know whether or not you have friends to play with locally, and of course, WFC gaming is always an option. Yet, on the DS, do you generally prefer single player or multiplayer titles? We appreciate when games give us the best of both worlds, but which mode is more important to you?

I prefer single player. I find it more fun, and people like to find exploits in multiplayer.

Single player, mostly because I don't have anyone locally to DS with... and I dislike WFC because of cheaters and lack of customizability. Tetris Wi-Fi, for example, is very limited in features and the purpose of having a rank seems next to pointless. It's not like your opponents are chosen based on rank, so the only purpose is bragging. Single player FTW!

Single player game play is all that matters to me. The only system I even play multi-player on is the wii because my wife plays. There is no point to adding a half crack version of the game that supports multiple players. It usually just completely sucks.

I prefer single player, but nothing beats getting together 4 or 5 people to play Mario Kart DS. Or tetris: multiplayer tetris is great. Though, I gotta say, I'm not a real fan Wi-Fi games. They seem rather cold and sterile. You really don't feel like you're playing with a computer or a person.
But I'll take TWEWY over any multiplayer game.

Single player is more important. I don't know anyone locally, and I don't have Wi-Fi Chicken either. Someday I'd like to try out multiplayer.

I like single player games that can also be multiplayer. Single player does matter most, but I like to play against my local friends. And online when i'm REALLY bored. Depends on how in depth the online goes.

Single player matters most to me especially on handhelds
I only play multiplayer on consoles (Revolution and PS3) and only with friends in the same room.
I never play online and honesty I care more about the box art of my games than I do about online.

Single player definitely. WFC and friend codes make multiplayer way too much of a pain, even on games that use MP well.

Definitely single player. I almost never play multiplayer mode with my DS games. The only exception is Pokemon.

Which mode is more important?...single player, easily. Well, mostly. Depends on the genre. Multiplayer RPGs don't do it for me, but a DS fighting game without wifi options is automatically bumped down to a no-buy.

Haha, it seems that everyone above me is choosing single player. Well, truthfully, I care a lot about single player as well, as most of my friends in my community don't have a DS. Well, some of them do, but they're more focused on their wii's and ps3's.
But, when it comes to Mario Kart, multiplayer is just pure awesome.

Multiplayer. I'm not the most hardcore gamer out there, but I would rather play a game against a friend, than a computer, any day.

I recently bought my handheld and i should say that i was interested in it cause i don't have time (i run my own business + freelance job) to play ps2 or any of my other jewels at home. So, all my games (most of them) are a/rpgs that i play solo during the day while i'm away from home. But since i got my DS, some friends and coworkers of mine also bought the stuff cause i showed how cool it was and since then, I was playing with them on multi player ( mainly mario kart). Now, i don't particularly like WFC gaming cause of the hacking (specially mario kart) and it's annoying cause, one wants fair play and you hardly get it when it comes to the online gaming, so the solution is playing with friendcodes.
Anyway, personally, if you ask me, i rather like solo over multiplayer.

Like many of the other commenters, my preference is for single-player.
much of gaming, for me, is about exploring the game-world at my own pace and playing with it on my own terms, things that don't work so well with multiplayer.
chispito @ Jun 7th 2008 5:04PM
Singe player is more important because it's always there when you need it. But it's also important for me to have a few go-to multiplayer titles for when friends are available.
Deozaan @ Jun 9th 2008 4:44AM
Single player is very important because I'm alone. I only know two people who own a DS and the closest one lives about 150 miles away. The other one is on the other side of the country.
Nintendo WiFi Connection isn't really an option either because for one, most DS games that use the WFC usually only connect for about 10 seconds to trade data and anything that you actually do play across the WFC always ends up disconnecting randomly.
And on the Wii the lag is so bad that Smash Bros is uplayable. I'm very unhappy with the WFC.

No contest. Single player. I prefer going through the story (when applicable). I'm not a fan of online play in general, but even if I were, I find I don't have a ton of time to set it up and get involved.
