Make short work of Mario Kart Wii's Grumble Volcano
This video demonstrates a totally cheap shortcut for jerks -- or if you're playing single-player, a really cool shortcut -- in Mario Kart Wii's Grumble Volcano track. With the judicious use of a mushroom, you can avoid the track altogether and rack up record-breaking lap times without being troubled by any of those obstacles or opponents that are always ruining your records.
We really doubt this will give anyone a significant advantage online. In fact, it's going to be very funny to see entire groups of online players trying to crowd onto this tiny rock at the beginning of every race, leaving smart racers a wide-open track.

I wouldn't use it online but I'm totally doing that in the Time Trials section when I get home.
Gewurztraminer says: R.O.B. is the last Cylon! @ Jun 4th 2008 6:13PM
you realize, of course, by doing so your time trial will be available... online?
sorensilk @ Jun 4th 2008 6:32PM
Oh, I thought that was only if you uploaded it...
Timdogg @ Jun 4th 2008 4:22PM
Oh goodness!
Q-Kid-Kyle @ Jun 4th 2008 4:27PM
1st. How do you get the mushroom at the start? 2nd. I thought it was bowser's castle or sumthing like that, not grumble volcano. Although it might be different up here in canada,eh? hosehead
ballistic3188 @ Jun 4th 2008 4:37PM
in time trials you get 3 mushrooms at the start of a race.
Mr Khan @ Jun 4th 2008 5:07PM
Potentially, if you got a mushroom throughout the course of the first lap, you could use the trick from that point on
Alex @ Jun 4th 2008 4:28PM
So where you get the mushrooms?
Croove55 @ Jun 4th 2008 4:34PM
3 and 4 are right, this is only useful on Time Trials or the second lap onward if you are lucky.
However, IT'S STILL ASSFEZERY!
Nah, just kidding, reminds me of the shortcut in Wario Stadium on MK64. Only that one was much more difficult.
Magnus @ Jun 5th 2008 8:47AM
The Wario Stadium in MK64 was simple especially if you used a heavy racer you didnt need a mushroom at all just jump at the right moment could do it from the start. I always had a problem with the Frappe Snowland shortcut though.
Timdogg @ Jun 4th 2008 4:37PM
Obviously this is Time Trial, which you stat off with mushrooms,) my question is how the hell this guy figured that out!!!
cbylife @ Jun 4th 2008 5:03PM
if your racing the AI in grand prix, you don't really need the mushrooms at the start do you? i don't see why you would...
jaredgood1 @ Jun 4th 2008 5:11PM
That's pretty nifty, but outside of Time Trials I couldn't it working more than 1 time out of every 100 races. This is Mario Kart we are talking about. The second you take that one shortcut lap, you'll be blasted by 2 blue shells, 1 red shell, a lightning bolt and squirted with ink just for good measure.
Mr Khan @ Jun 4th 2008 5:26PM
I doubt Red Shells would be able to access you out there
I'd be more worried about POW Blocks making you spin out and fall into the fire

schweet
Yan @ Jun 4th 2008 5:35PM
this is too difficult for me to do. its not worth it
O'Brien @ Jun 4th 2008 7:26PM
Ok, I can get up there, but when I go around, it is not counting the laps. Any Ideas? I am going around the edge just like the video. I can get down and go through the finish line and it will count, but geting back up would be a pain. Any help guys?
CJLopez @ Jun 4th 2008 7:29PM
So, this is the "wario staduim raceway" shortcut for Mario Kart Wii huh, simply amazing
Pudge @ Jun 4th 2008 7:39PM
I had the same problem after I finally got up there, I wish it would work so I can beat at least one developer time.
PS. You also only have till about the 2nd lap to pull it off, cause that mountain part goes into the lava after that.
Nick Lamb @ Jun 4th 2008 8:21PM
Um. That looks simple, and I am totally doing this when I get home. Hilarious.
mechevar21 @ Jun 5th 2008 9:59AM
Not a big deal in my opinion for time trials. Its too situational to be of any use in online competition. You have to camp at the beginning hoping for a mushroom or golden mushroom. Plus being in last place means you are more likely to get bullet bill which would shoot you up the track, again making this even more difficult to pull of in a online race.
ChrisCanberg @ Jun 8th 2008 11:05AM
Yeah its not working for me either. I don't get it. Is is specifically using Daisy? Though I doubt that, but if that is the case, then this shortcut is out of the question. I hate daisy.
