Can't find the End of the World
Searching, searching ... dang it all! Where's the Japanese cyberpunk Shibuya-themed trendy pop culture action-RPG when you need it? Gamers have been trying to find The World Ends With You on store shelves, but a meager shipment + critical acclaim = no game for you.
Square Enix has admitted this oversight, and released a statement to Joystiq explaining the lack of units. They felt the unique style of TWEWY was released in just the right place at just the right time. They were right -- but that still doesn't result in John Q DS getting the game! Square has confirmed that the next round of units will be arriving mid-June, so you'll have to twiddle your thumbs for a little longer. Relax - it's not the end of the world.

I got mine the day it came out. Good thing to, it seems.

Where's my game, yo!

I got my copy on the first day too and haven't seen it on a shop shelf since.
The high demand for the game and the fact that the initial shipment sold quicker than SE expected should send them the message that new original games can be just as profitable and popular with gamers as the latest FF spin-off.
TWEWY is exactly the kind of thing Square Enix should be making more of.

Nice Simpsons reference.

If anyone's looking for some in Austin, TX, there's a ton of them at fry's electronics. I'm sure it's the same for any of the Fry's stores.

Darn! I was hoping this game would follow some other SE games in price at the Toyrus, clearanced in a matter of months. Ah well.
HappyFunBall @ Jun 3rd 2008 12:37PM
This game slightly intrigues me, but I refuse to pay the SE tax.... But it selling out will only encourage SE to keep up their higher prices.
If I can get it on sale, I'll buy it.

Oh yeah! I'm special! The Gamestop won't be getting them again until July!

I'm glad I managed to find a copy (though I had to enlist a friend to help), but yay to more shipments! Hopefully this means Squeenix will do more unique projects like it :D

People need to just buy games before they go OOS.
Don't sit on the fence, then complain about the game being OOS.
It's lucky this isn't an Atlus game. Atlus games go OOS, never to be seen again.
BTW, I bought my copy already. :)
Peace.

With a title like this, it's not bound to drop in price any time soon. Look at Zelda: PH; I don't think it's planning on hitting a $20 at all, at least from what I've seen lately.

I ordered mine from Amazon when they dropped the Squareeeeenix tax, so it was only $30. The catch was that it was already out of stock. It worked well for me, I didn't need it right away since I still had other games to finish, and by the time it shipped, it would've been charged on the following month's credit card bill. Perfect.
But it should've been in stock by now (They said May 27 to June 3), and I'm almost done with my other games so now I'm getting antsy. I hope it ships soon, though probably not if Gamestop says July...
