Do people ever ask you why you're a DS fan? We certainly get it all the time, especially when playing handheld games in public, and inevitably, when the subject comes up, people ask about the best games. In those situations, you have a couple of choices: you can tell them about the absolute best games, or you can evaluate what you know about the person, and guess at the best games for
them. We tend to do the latter, and there are a few games we recommend over and over.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the newest of the lot, but we also often recommend
Clubhouse Games, the DS
Castlevania titles (of course),
Phantom Hourglass, since so many people are familiar with the franchise, and games like
Advance Wars for longtime gamers. For those who aren't gamers at all, we talk about things like
Brain Age, but also titles like
My French Coach and
Let's Yoga. When you're in these situations, how do you describe the system's appeal, and what do you recommend?

I recommend The World Ends with You if anyone is interested in RPG's, games that make great use of all the DS's functions or just excellent games in general.

the only time people ask me about it is when they ask me why i choose DS over the PSP .

I have gotten my entire shift to purchase DS Lite's and copies of Animal Crossing: Wild World. I have started a craze that shows no signs of stopping. All I had to do was explain to them how cool the game is and how much fun it is to play on DS. The rest was a piece of cake.

Where are you suggesting they procure a copy of Clubhouse Games?
In general I'd take into account who the person is I'm recommending the game for.
General: NSMB, MarioKart DS, Zelda
Casual: Piccross DS, Phoenix Wright, Brainage (I'm told)
Puzzle: Puzzle Quest, Piccross DS
Action/shooter: Contra, Geometry Wars
RPG: they probably can find games they would like on their own, though I'd be tempted to recommend Shiren
My personal favs: Shiren, Contra, AW:DoR
