Ugly new Star Wars game on the way

The back cover of the Lego Indiana Jones manual has revealed a new Star Wars game headed to Wii and DS: Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This new game will be based on the CG movie and animated series coming out later this year. It's actually the second Clone Wars game: a Clone Wars title was released for the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube back in 2002. Of course, the new show is also the second Clone Wars TV show, because people love the prequel trilogy. In general, we hold much lower expectations for this game than the massively hyped The Force Unleashed, despite knowing nothing at all about it.

For one thing, it's going to look at best like the CG Clone Wars movie, and you can see from the image above how that's working out. In addition, The Force Unleashed has been in the works for years, and seems designed with gameplay at the forefront. This ... is going to be a licensed game.

I personally think the new clone wars show looks really nice, I like the way they used cgi. The gameplay may end up being nothing to write home about, but if it looks like the show, i will give it a chance

I disagree %100. Visually, this is the way to go to avoid the uncanny valley, where The Force Unleashed currently resides.

I can't say this game will look great, but I'm glad they are avoiding any attempt at realism.

Same here. While I am looking forward to The Force Unleashed, in general I think avoiding excess "realism" is the way to go. Maybe I will feel differently next gen.

Boy, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed and didn't have any coffee...

Just because we didn't hear anything till now doesn't make the game horrid. No offense, but we didn't know about the TV show/movie itself until most of it was pretty much down pat (art style, and several scenes). Does it mean that the show will suck because we only recently heard about it? No. So why would that philosophy work for the game. The animated series has a very good reputation as far as quality is concerned (mostly because Lucas hardly touched it..), so I think a little benefit of the doubt is better than slamming it.

Also, Star Wars games on Nintendo systems actually have a good record of being good games versus other Star Wars games on other systems (EP III on the DS, all the Rogue Squadrons, the Super Nintendo trilogy etc were great games..). How about we actually wait and learn something about the game before making gross generalizations, hm?

And no offense, but for all you know Unleashed could be horrid as well. Just because they toot their own game doesn't mean it will be good.. it's just the marketing department doing their job lol! Don't get me wrong, I hope it's a great game.. just I honestly can't understand your reasoning here..

I think that Clone Wars wont be as bad as the person who wrote this article makes it seem, kinda negative. Regardless, Clone Wars I think should be a more interesting game than the Force Unleashed, the movie looks qood with its unique style of CGI.

Guys. The issue isn't with it being a cartoon!

It's with it being an UGLY cartoon. Look at Obi-Wan's face.

I think the problem w/ gaming these days is the press decides what will be "great" months in advance ... talk about agenda setting.

A Wii-specific SW game is more exciting than a watered-down Force port to me.

You sir are an Idiot! I know I know, I'm just a silly Star Wars Fanboy, but you sir are a Out of touch gamer, that needs to actually research something, before making a stupid (personal) Report about a game. I as well as many other like the 3D Clone Wars look. The original Cartoon was great, and I hope this new one will be just as good. I would hope for some better news reporting. I remembering scoffing a bit at the artwork for the original Clone Wars cartoons, but then being blown away by the quality of the animation. I like the art design now, purely based on my respect for the orignal series, however, I am taking a wait and see approach.

That all being said, I do, definitley, like the look of the artwork for the new movie so far.
