Wii Warm Up: Starting a regimen
We already asked who had plans to pick up the Wii Fit bundle, but with its release today and all, we were wondering how many of you were planning on making a big life change with it? Do you plan to start a workout routine with Nintendo's newest title, confident it will build a healthier you?As gamers, we're usually not presented with an opportunity to tune our body, because so much of gaming is kind of just sitting there, holding a controller. Well, maybe it's just this blogger. But, with Wii Fit, we suspect many of you are confident in its ability to enhance your life. Or you just want to play the hula hoop minigame.
Again, maybe that's just this blogger.

Plan on picking up the Wii Fit at Best Buy today. I've been running for the past couple of years, but this will allow for some variety in my workouts. Variety is the spice of life, no?

For me, I recently (about 6 months ago) started a workout routine. I would like to use wii fit to track my progress and as a filler for days when I just dont want to go to the gym. But mostly I am looking at this title as a game not a workout machine.

I plan on using it as my "intro" back into exercising.... damn "Warcraft Ass" :P
Anyway, I think it offers the nice set of "get up and do something" stuff to ease me back into a full on routine.
Full of win :P

I plan on picking up WiiFit sometime this summer. I mainly am intersted in how the peripheral is adopted by game designers, but I also am slightly intrigued by the balance board functioning as a scale with enhanced information. At this time however, I don't see it as a must have workout machine.....

I picked it up this morning before work at Wal-Mart. I plan on using this to become more active. Working in front of a computer screen all day doesn't help your body much. I know this does not replace a "real" exercise routine, but it is a start....

Being completely self-aware that I too, have the "Warcraft Ass", I'm all about this game. No, I'm not aware of it being a workout machine, but it will help me realize goals I need to achieve.
That and the hula-hoop mini-game.

Wow, I can't believe acutal gamers are buying into this. I go to the gym to work out, i play video games to have fun in a different world. I can understand mothers and various other uninformed people buying it, but this jaded gamer has seen way too many exergaming pushes fail hardcore, and i'm giving this one a wide berth.

Picked it up at Target this morning. Within 10 minutes about 10 systems were sold (I was #8 or so). I plan on using it to help me stay motivated for exercise. I'm not doing any sports this summer and need to keep moving and I detest running around my block, although I'll keep that up and running.
Goal: to lose 10 pounds by end of summer with Wii Fit. :D

I too picked it up before work (Target - they started with over 100, had around 30 when I left at 8:15a). It was mostly moms in line buying the game, and mostly for themselves. While many others have failed at this sort of thing, we are talking Nintendo here, and the Wii is still nearly always sold out because of it's popularity. If they can make this fun, I plan on using it to create a regiment. However, the gamer in me knows I bought it not for this alone, but for the upcoming game integration (as right now there's a We Ski shortage at the stores).
But still, I have hope to improve my health.

I was going to wait on this for a while, but whim took me to Best Buy this morning. I can see why the Wii is still such a hard find - I've never seen such disparate people all buying the same video game on its release day. As for Wii Fit itself, I'm looking at it as a nice rainy day change of pace from running/the gym/etc.

I picked it up this morning at Target. I plan on using it as a nice into to exercise. I've become to fat and lazy!

Sold out everywhere, online and offline. eBay's got them for 149.99, though, and it'll be a while before they'll be available in stores again for people who couldn't preorder and who don't feel like sleeping over the night before the shipment comes. We're pretty much going to see the same thing we did with the Wii's launch, but hopefully on a smaller scale.

I went to Wal-Mart at 11:30 only to find that there were maybe three other parties looking to pick up WiiFit that night, actually wandered around the electronics department and in front of the customer service before I had to ask someone at midnight where the hell I was supposed to be since it looked like nothing was going on anywhere.
I got my copy, excited trying not to go 50 over the speed limit the entire way home. Set it up and stayed up until 2 AM going through every different type of training and game (besides 2 player run, which I would have tried, but I couldn't wake someone up to play with). I didn't wake up until 11:30 this morning and I feel like crap (and I actually feel a bit sore, but I kind of expected that).
If anything, WiiFit has made me less healthy than I was before.. but I'm about to go play some more anyways. Really I'm mostly just looking at the title as a way to improve my horrible sense of balance (which I believe this game actually can do) and increase my flexibility with Yoga. I'm really not interested in loosing any weight since according to the game I'm already very underweight, but at the same time I don't think this is going to really help me build any sort of substantial muscle mass which I'm fine with.

I LOVE this and can't wait to get it. i have already added it to my wish list http://www.someonespoilme.com/gift-review/wii-fit-wii-balance-board/

I picked it up yesterday at Best Buy (on pre-order) and started playing with it yesterday. It basically told me I had horrible balance and asked me if I trip when I walk. The horrible thing is, I occasionally do! I'm very intrigued by the possibility that it might improve my balance. If that's the only thing it does, I'll be happy and impressed.
