Delving into Disgaea's extras
Nippon Ichi is really trying to make the DS version of Disgaea the definitive one. The company's latest attempt to sway fans who are so over the series is by adding a handful of new playable characters. So far, the list of extras includes Adel and Rozalin from Disgaea 2, Overlord Zetta from Makai Kingdom, and the rabbit-loving Pleinair. The best part about playing with Pleinair? She can summon rabbits from the sky as an attack. Well, that about sells us on the port. If you're still looking for more reasons to buy Disgaea: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon, though, the game also has multiplayer battles worth mentioning. The one disappointing aspect to these shenanigans is the lack of Wi-Fi multiplayer, but even so, we can't complain too much.
Perhaps it's because there's even more goodies packed in, such as a new intro movie and some sort of Prinny commentary. Since NIS is putting so much effort into the software, we'll definitely take notice -- even if it means we're easy.

I actually didn't realize it was a port of the first Disgaea and not a whole new game. That's actually good news for me, since I never played the first Disgaea. xP

The first Disgaea was probably my favorite game I've ever played and the thought of carrying around the definitive version in my pocket gets me soooo excited.
Anyone who has never played this game NEEDS to pick this up. it's fantastic.

I wonder if it kept the voice acting that it had in the "hour of darkness." cause although a have absolutely no interest in buying this game "again" if friends of mines get it i guess i would too. although playing this game online with my psp using Xlink kai makes this lets worth it if theres no wifi. not to mention that there seems to be no Etna mode >.> I blew a gasket laughing at that thing. no extra modes equals failure for me. extra characters aren't enough i need extra laughs.

According to NIS, the game is keeping the voice acting from the PSP's Afternoon of Darkness. I'm not sure how different that is from the acting in Hour of Darkness, though.

Having played the PS2 version t death, the sequel even moreso, and then the PSP version extensively as well...
I see no other logical answer than to get this and play it as well :D
Even though it was a little lacking in some departments, for sheer portability, the PSP version beats the PS2 for me, so playing it on my favourite handheld will be pretty sweet \o/ The inclusion of Adell and Rozy will also be nice ;D

Now I'm kinda glad I only played the 2nd Disgaea, which I loved. So I'm really looking forward to seeing Adell and Rozalin again... *_* It will also be good to play the first one before I'll get the 3rd for the PS3. I'm still scared of the sheer enormity of gameplay deepness there is, as in all nippon-ichi SRPGs... I so wish there would be DS remakes for Summon Night 3 + 4 too and, of course, a localisation in the US or Europe.. (sighs)

Ugh... I'll stick with the PSP version thank you very much. I've put in too much effort to go all the way back to the beginning.
Online play would just be cruel, as I'd HAVE to buy it. I gotta think the DS version isn't going to be able to cram in all that voice acting though...
