DS Daily: Feature invention
We couldn't stop telling ourselves all day yesterday how cool the newest feature in Band Brothers DX is. That got us to thinking about our lovely little chat topics we have every day and what some of you wonderful readers might have knocking around your noggins. So, in line with what Band Brothers DX is doing, what upcoming game would you like to see have something like this? In fact, what ideas do you have period? Whether it's just as simple as in-game currency exchanging between a Wii and DS game or for a special Channel on the Wii (we envision something like hosting a Pokémon tournament and having live stats tracking through the Wii), we want to hear it. Hit us with your best ideas!

I'd like to see the Korg DS-10 app feature the ability to upload tracks to the Wii, so that, through sharing, people can add new layers (tracks) on top of other users pieces. Online, multi-track user collaboration, basically.

You know, it's about time for that connectivity. I miss the ol' Gamecube/Gameboy connectivity. It was fun to play Splinter Cell and use the GBA as a radar/sticky bomb detonator. Pac Man Vs. was a blast, but of course there were so many wires! :( But now we've got 2 wireless, compatible systems, and it's taking forever for games to come out to support them in creative ways.

I forgot to answer the question. Using the DS as a rearview mirror in Mario Kart? A way to plan and track workouts on Wii Fit?

Aaah that's kind of brilliant. I love it.

I second Greg's Motion for connectivity! :)

Frankly, I think the Wii-DS connectivity should duplicate the GCN-GBA link cable, but wirelessly, of course. The Wii can play GameCube games, and the DS can play GBA games. Why, then, can't I use a DS in place of a GBA for some classic FFCC multiplayer, sans link cables? And once that basic framework is in place ("Hey developers, remember GCN-GBA connectivity? You can still do that!"), I imagine a lot more games will catch on to the possibilities.
If the homebrew scene figures out how to make a DS communicate with a Wii, I bet we'll see eye-opening concepts emerge. I feel like real innovation is going to come from them, and it excites me.
