Amazon paints in a new price for Okami
Following Best Buy's example, Amazon has marked down its Wii copies of Okami to $29.99 from its standard $39.99 pricing, throwing in free shipping for good measure. You won't even have to leave your house to take advantage of this deal, now. In fact, you don't even have to get up from your chair! We're not sure how long the online retailer plans to host the sale, so buy the game now or you'll never find a use for that replacement boxart you ordered. That's right, we're totally on to you. You ordered one of those covers without actually buying the game just to get free stuff, didn't you?

I can't believe this. The German Amazon still lists this for 44.95€ with the current exchange rate that's almost $70 or more than twice what you US guys will pay. If this doesn't change in the next weeks I'm not going to buy this right away. Hell with a little luck I could get a pre-owned PS2 with the game on eBay for that kind of money. And after the not so brilliant review scores and the IGN watermark fiasco I would expect them to lower the price. God, I hate global trade if it's not to my advantage ^^

Not so brilliant review scores? I don't know what you've been reading, but regardless of that it's an amazing game that deserves your time.
Good luck tracking it down.

"God, I hate global trade if it's not to my advantage"
I so agree.
I think I'm going to buy my version off ebay instead of waiting for the Euro release.

@milan:
I've read/watched a couple of reviews so far and some of them say the controls are a bit off. I don't know how much that will actually to someone like me who has never played the game before but the price difference is still a little deterring.
samfish @ May 20th 2008 1:11PM
There are only two problems with the controls in the Wii version:
• You have to have PRECISE timing for the reflector attacks (which is the weapon you start out with). Once you get the next weapon, the Rosary, you set Reflectors as a shield and never use them again.
• The dodge move called Fleet Foot doesn't work. At all.
...thankfully, you really don't need it in the game and it's pretty worthless.
The camera is also a bit wonky, but that problem also is in the PS2 version.
Otherwise it's an awesome game. It's definitely worth every penny, even at that stupid high Euro price. You'll say to yourself at least twice, "Wait, the game isn't over yet?!" You'd get your money's worth from it, that's for sure.

Lol, the fleet foot is horrible!! I wish I would've not wasted the money. It goes in whatever direction it feels like going.
And all the brush strokes in general have a bit of a learning curve. There's usually some small trick to making it work. After that, it's very responsive. I can't imagine the PS2 version being more fun than drawing with the wiimote.

This game would be worth it @ $100. Seriously. Buy it now, everyone.

Yeah. But to be fair, I was 90% sure I'd get the game for my birthday. I did, and now I'm not a thief. =3

So, is it really worthwhile if I already own and have played the hell out of the PS2 version, and have a dozen great games on my "must play" list already? I loved it then, but I haven't had nearly enough spare time in the past several years to devote any of it to re-playing something I already beat...
T-MAC @ May 20th 2008 12:15PM
Have any of you guys actually received your replacement art yet? I haven't. :(
Jeremy @ May 20th 2008 2:17PM
I haven't received mine yet either, it's been at least 4 or 5 weeks. And I actually bought the game.......what's the DEAL CAPCOM?????
angelbabe531 @ May 20th 2008 9:51PM
I haven't gotten it either. I got the game the first week it was out. Ordered it a few days after. I ordered the pink one, my boyfriend ordered the green one. We figure when our collections merge, we'll have one of each cover, lol. Well except the fixed one, huh...come to think of it, the cheaters were clever :P

I've been waiting to pick this up as a little post college graduation gift for myself. Went to Amazon as soon as I read this and ordered it, can't wait for it to get here!

IF YOU'VE BOUGHT THE GAME IN THE LAST MONTH:
Amazon's post-order price guarantee applies to you, too! If it SHIPPED in the last 30 days, email/call and they'll refund the difference to your CC. Wii Fanboy just saved me $10!!
They do not, however, go out of their way to promote this.

To claim your refund: Visit their contact page (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/returns-and-refunds.html), click the 'e-mail' tab, and choose 'Refund Inquiry' from the dropdown list. Or contact their customer service department at 1-800-201-7575. Hitting 7 should get you to a customer service rep right away.

You got me... it's true. I admit it. I ordered it and I don't even own the game. lol
Mr Khan @ May 20th 2008 4:37PM
Eh, i have a distaste for buying online because the cost to get it shipped fast enough to equal the instant gratification of driving out to a brick-and-mortar joint winds up evening out
However, i shall be buying Okami on Memorial Day.
